Noodlehead bag pattern giveaway
Just this morning, I was making out a list of gifts I wanted to give to friends and realized that I'll need to get cracking at this point if I hope to hand-make presents. If you find that you've been similarly sluggish about your hand-making thus far and need some ideas, you may be pleased t...

Wiksten pattern and fabric giveaway and quilting notions winner
I've often joked to my more sporty friends that summer is my indoor season here in sunny and humid North Carolina. It's hard for me to get motivated to even open the front door when temperatures are in the upper 90's and 100's as they have been lately. The garden gets super weedy for a couple ...

An Interview with Samarra Khaja, Spoonflower designer gone pro with Timeless Treasures
Those of you who have followed the Spoonflower fabric-of-the-week contests for even a few months probably don't need an introduction to prolific designer Samarra Khaja, aka Sammyk. Samarra has a light-hearted design style coupled with a great sense of both humor and color, and she's won ou...
I think I'm going to be watching some friends get married online! As in, they'll be outside in the heat, and we'll be inside eating snacks watching from a distance. I think i can get behind this idea.
Giveaway! Giveaway! ALERT! ALERT!
It is hardly a secret that I adore Tea Collection, since Felicity has been wearing their stuff practically since the moment she was born. The clothes are beyond adorable -- um, hello: And, as if the cuteness weren't enough, everything from Tea is top quality, made of ultra-s...
You're lucky that works! My hips definitely spread and my thighs and butt got too big to pull up my pre-preggo pants pretty quickly! But you're lookin' cute :)
happy friday + hello pants...
Happy Friday friends! I've been all about wearing comfy dresses lately, but sad to see all the pants and shorts I have go to waste because they wouldn't fit my expanding waistline. So, I finally broke down and got a Bellaband...the pant lifesaver. Now I can get a bit more use out of them...hur...
I love these, but I have to say I'm also a little (secretly) pleased that there's a fabric collection that took a bit of a risk of not pleasing everyone - and I really hope that hearing negative feedback doesn't scare the fabric companies off from continuing to support designers going in new directions! Sometimes all of the collections run together and it's hard to tell one designer from another after awhile.
Old camera, new strap
I bought a used Pentax K100 this summer and this past weekend, I loaded the first roll of film in it. Well, really, Emily loaded it for me. (I'm totally out of practice - it's been a long time since I've shot film.) What better excuse than a new-to-me camera is there for cutting in the also...
Your visual memory is terrific, and your instincts are definitely spot on. The second design is amazing.
Flash Quilt
Today I made a doll quilt. I signed up for the Doll Quilt Swap 9 and it started back in June? A while ago. Last month I made this quilt. I just wanted to sit on it. I wasn't sure if it was the one, but I felt like I was on to something. It's that rule in art when you spend a concentrated amount ...
Beautiful! It's great to see how it grows and progresses.
stitching step-by-step
Most of my stitching begins with a blank scrap of linen and a threaded needle, without a plan. I let the cloth and thread lead me along. Sometimes good things result and sometimes not so much. But either way, it's a therapeutic process that's good for my soul. I'll take you along this time.....
I'm pretty sure I could never pick a favorite, but I have some Echino jungle animals on linen that are beautiful - whimsical yet elegant, if that makes sense.
Supercali-fabric-listicexpialidocious!

Night watch is so cool! So is that dress...(I was hoping there was a pattern for that)
Something I owe you.
Ok. I owed these to you in June. Squam, surgery, sisters, birthdays, and summer kept me from you, and in turn you from them. Here is the first round of a not so sneak peeks. Round two tomorrow, if I am lucky. These patterns, and a few other, wink wink nudge nudge, will be available for pre-sale ...
That vintage lace in navy would be beautiful in so many different things - clothing, quilts, pillows!

Book Review: What We Have, by Amy Boesky
Oh, you guys. YOU GUYS. Listen to me when I tell you that this book, without a doubt, is one of the best books I've read in the last few years, and I like to think I read a respectable amount. (I mean, I'm no Elizabeth, but I think I've read close to 40 books since January of this year.) ...

My husband makes me walk away from the vintage aprons now at antique stores because we don't NEED any more, but if I won them what could he say ? :)
an apron collection
Sometimes when I see groups of four things I think of them as sisters. This happens because I am one of four girls...no brothers. Sure enough, it popped into my head as I was editing the photo. Four sister aprons. One appliqued with embroidered with fruit, one with fringe trim, one with b...
We totally tilled the grass into our garden plot. And yeah, it's coming back up around everything, but it doesn't mean that nothing's growing if you look at my post from today!
the garden
I always said I had a black thumb and nothing I ever attempted to cultivate would live. Last year on a whim David and I decided to see what we could grow in the tiny plot of garden left by the previous owners. To our amazment we actually had a successful crop of tomatoes, waterm...
I love that you don't lay it out - just let the squares fall as they may, so organically.
Swedish Summer Quilt
Yay! Finished! This one is baby-sized and made for my dearest friend and college roommate, Martha, who is having a baby girl in August. I think it came out very sweet, if I dare say so myself! Twenty years ago, when Martha and I were in school, our friend Meredith made a patchwork quilt for ...
