I'm SO sorry!!! That is so heartbreaking!!! Poor Massy! But you did the right thing!! You really did everything right! I don't know a whole lot about farm life yet, but I know what I learned in my Bradley birthing class (where they teach you to learn from animals)- that animals (the human kind too) birth best on their own, on their own terms, comfortably, with little intervention.
I wish I could give Massy a hug, poor poor girl. I feel so sorry for her. But she's in good hands.
I want to say something else. I don't know if I'm right or wrong here, but I dno't think you have to get used to it. I know these things happen, but allow yourselves to feel it. It will hurt each time, but isn't that better than becoming hardened to things like that? It's easier to become caloused, but is it better?
My heart is with your Massy, you and your family.

Amen, woman!!! You said it! I'm getting over my "Soulemama envy", even though I still enjoy her blog and enjoy creating, my blog has changed as well. Well, plus the $100 a year wasn't going to cut it this time around...went for a free wordpress blog. Yeah, mine too will focus on my family and what's really happening- MAYBE one day I will write a book, but not likely on my housekeeping talents...which are nill...and MAYBE one day I will start an etsy shop...carefully...but it seems that whenever I make something other people want, I don't want to make it anymore...weird. Anyway, I'm happy for ya!!! :-) Thanks for updating! By the way, my typepad account expired, so I'm just going to leave you a link to my new blog here, hope you don't mind. This May is will be the one year anniversary of this blog. It is amazing how much can change in a year! I had just graduated with my MA and for the first time in years, I would not be attending classes or writing papers! I so enjoyed reading certain blogs about other mama's, women living life...
So beautiful!!! :-) I'm so inspired!!! ...I've been wanting to learn to knit for WAY too long!

What a beautiful story! :-) Ok, if I can get enough time on the computer to whittle down my birth story, I'll share it too. But for 8 days of (pretty darned easy, even with back labor) contractions, I have a lot of whitteling to do! But I absolutely love my son's birth story, so it's really worth it. I think we are about as pregnant as each other! I'm 20 1/2 weeks right now with a baby girl! :-D

I've recently been stalking your blog (ha)...origionally fell in LOVE with how you've arranged your life so you can raise sheep, dye their wool, spin it *big deal for me* and then knit your family all kinds of warmies! I want that SOOOOO bad!!!! So, yeah, I just moved into our first house where, unfortunately, we can't raise sheep or chickens or ANYTHING, but we'll get there! That's a big goal for us!
I am jealous of your cabinet! I'm thinking I would do a scandinavian design...like the "little folks" collection of fabrics... and then paint the rest of it like a sherberty washed out red. But that's just me. And I tend to want things a little brighter than most people...so I'll understand if you don't go that route. :-)

Wow!!! I am in LOVE with your Little Gypsy Quilt- the one with the octopi :-) That's Heather Ross fabric, right? The collection with the mermaids? That's my FAVORITE of hers and I don't have ANY of it!! Needless to say, I'm drooling. Plus I'm 18 weeks pregnant with a baby that super needs that quilt.
