I do understand that - they just irritate me...
but not on you!
Just how good is life, anyway?

One word: fleece.
Tuesday Ten: NE vs. NW
I have a young friend coming to Bend for some academic research, who's never been to the Northwest. To orient her, I've compiled this list, in no particular order, of: 10 Things You Are Unlikely To See in the Northwest Versus the Northeast Artificial nails Umbrellas People smoking cigarettes on...

15 milliseconds of knitting fame
Here's the local knitting angle story where I'm briefly quoted. Makes me sound a little grumpy, which I'm not, really. The print edition shows my latest WIP, the moonlight moebius. Didn't make the online cut, but I'm not bitter. You... Continue reading

Soft and prickly
Another reason I love my job: cute animals. (We're not supposed to call them cute. They're wild, dammit!) Here's a few more if you missed them. And you know how they say that people look like their pets? Unfortunate resemblance.... Continue reading

That's what I like about the South*
Top Ten 'cause it's Tuesday; travel edition. Just got back from our yearly pilgrimage to the hills of North Carolina. I know some people wouldn't really call it the South but it's as close as I plan to get, so... Continue reading

Yeah, Martina - he has mentioned you... all good, really!
A smokin' romance
Alright - moving on from the hilarity and anguish of knitters vs. the olympics. I enjoyed it - maybe too much, as I think many readers moved on. Oh well - you're still here! Meanwhile, we're in the final prep for our yearly pilgrimage to the southeast, so I don't have time to write. Must. Clean....

We have sharp sticks and we like to use them.
I'm posting my past Ravelympics medals proudly on my sidebar again. My favorite part is highlighted below: our work denigrates athletes, but they'd like us to send them some anyway... Hmm, what should I knit? Latest NPR News: After Knitters... Continue reading

A confluence of craft and science
The assignment: Construct a model of a virus to hang in the classroom. Bonus challenge: make it from natural materials (vs. foam and plastic straws). No food substances allowed. This is one of those assignments that piques my interest, and that I don't feel guilty about helping with. It qualifie...

Unfortunately, the "bad" cereals are also always on sale cheap. Part of the issue that healthy food is more expensive. I wouldn't mind a bowl now and then but he eats cereal all day long and into the night...
Cereal Guilt
Being a charter member of the Bad Moms Club, I have plenty I can feel guilty about. Topping the list this week is sugared cereals. Henry eats about five bowls of cereal a day. At least. So I've posted a list of cereals on our fridge, ranked by nutrition. I drew a line below which I wouldn't b...
Kix and Life are both rated pretty good - apple jacks not so much... and I'm with you, Jennifer, on the pick your battles approach. I'm just not ready to give this one up.
I love cereal for dinner!
