I forget the source, but I've seen it stated something like this. In accounting terms: Features are an asset; code is a liability. It was further suggested that lines of code should be included in technical debt metrics. EVERY line of code is technical debt, by definition. This makes a lot of sense. [Anyone remember the source? It was a great article.]
