Right you are Andy! Frankly, I like classmates better than alumni (but I suppose that makes people think of Your blog on the subject was a lot more thorough and definitely worth a read. I wonder if LinkedIn ever thought they would make such a strong foray into Higher Ed partnerships when they launched the site a few years ago. Assuming the answer is no, so it's good to see services added that help us alumni folk do our job.
Chris--we've actually used a google doc for a few years to allow all our content to be put in one place for posting, and that has worked quite well. I've considered pre-tweeting things, but have only done that 24 hours or so in advance...i should probably give it another look
Thanks Krista! I definitely think that a lot of organizations are in a position where they have to remember that a social media strategy is more than just being the "person who plays on Facebook all day", and those of us who do this work have to do it credibly and make sure that we find ways to articulate how those efforts move the needle for alumni engagement and participation. Relationship building leads to that credibility. We certainly can't let those relationships go silent for a long period of time.
Thanks for the feedback Krista. Alumni are a great resource for alumni relations work (who woulda thunk it right?). I'm sure most schools have an alum or two who are involved in social media that could be tapped for a similar conversation.

I clearly agree with you Chris...and appreciate the comments. I really like the idea of engaging with your mouth as well as your mouse. I'm constantly reminded of the maxim I was taught in undergrad "technology must be a good servant, not a bad master"
