I've been away from JOM for the past month, dealing with some serious, debilitating medical problems. I came by this morning to post some pictures of bad's beloved bluebells, in her memory, for the JOM family to remember her by. Although I may have missed the right day (I think it was April 4), I really wanted to post the pictures in her honor, to bring back the wonderful memories everyone has of her. And then I read something that made me say "Ohh, NO". Reading that daddy passed away on March 5 is just heartbreaking. I don't have it in me to post the bluebell pictures right now . . . Who said that (would-be) tough guys don't cry? Damn, just damn. I'll try to be back later when the tears are over.
. . . and don't think that Putin isn't *loving* this travesty of a hearing. Thanks, Dems.

Do the Dems realize the impression they are making on anyone that isn't a member of their class of abject Trump haters? I don't think the rest of America wants a Congressional committee to solicit this type of testimony from convicted felons.

How do Dems like Northam get away with treating their supporters as if they are half-wits? Telling them that *they* [the VA voters] need training in racial sensitivity and ethics, and positioning himself as the leader who will help guide *them*, rather than admitting he is the unethical racist who cannot be a proper leader to anyone in VA. It's a lucky thing for him that his supporters don't appear to be bright enough to see a two-bit con being pulled on them by their party's "leadership."

Does that "charity" ever actually DO anything? Posted by: Janet 🚬 | January 12, 2019 at 06:19 PM I think they probably funded most of Clenis's international travels, like those to Cannes to be photographed with the two porn 'actresses', and his numerous trips to Epstein's 'Pedo Island', among others.

henry - Thanks for the explanation about your hearing situation. Even though I was going for the cheap 'n easy joke about spouses, it was interesting to read what you experience, and how you have managed to find a 'workaround' that enables you to hear what you would otherwise miss. Explains why there were what sounded like both serious and joking responses to the same post. Thanks for taking the time to explain your perspective - I really appreciated it. - - - - - - Btw - When I was in college, I volunteered to be a lifeguard to help a school for the deaf who had lost their regular lifeguard. I had studied ASL, and could communicate on a basic level using it, and thought it would be a good chance to improve my skills while helping them. Let me tell you - no one enjoys the simple joy of splashing water and jumping into a pool more than deaf kids. And somehow, the water *magically* rendered those mischief makers completely unable to understand *any* sign language, or simple gestures, or to even read a clock when they were enjoying their chance to let loose in the swimming pool. Talk about a bunch of uncontrollable little hooligans. Whew, what a handful.

If anyone understands this cartoon, [from Powerline's TWiP] pls explain: a line of people holding plates in front of a red-draped table with food no line for neighboring table with punch bowl Posted by: Jim,SunnyvaleCA,USA | January 12, 2019 at 05:44 AM Might be the "No punch line" mentioned earlier, but . . . Maybe the punch bowl contains Kool-Aid™, and the other line is for the meat/main entree? Shows that people aren't willing to drink the Kool-Aid™ any more, and are completely lined up for some meat/red meat that is more fulfilling?

I know some here don't like Megyn, but you gotta love that she took NBC to the cleaners for her full contract of $69 million. Posted by: jim nj | January 12, 2019 at 02:20 AM I don't care much for Megyn - I think she failed to do the right thing when given the chance - and I think she ultimately destroyed her own career chances. But . . . at least *she tried* to honestly earn her money from NBC - even if they were no longer willing to participate. Gretchen Carlson, however, the mostly talent-less, self-absorbed former beauty queen at Fox News Channel with terrible ratings, took a $20 million settlement from Fox News/NewsCorp after claiming that Roger Ailes harassed and discriminated against her. Despite the fact that Ailes gave her a prime slot, a whole hour for a show of her own at 2 P.M. Eastern. I don't condone *any* harassment or discrimination, but her accounts of Ailes' reputed conduct were pretty lame - not of the nature or duration of what most people consider harassment. And Ms. Carlson has been preening around the broadcast networks ever since, holding herself out as some paragon of virtue and sacrifice, relentlessly fighting against those terrible, oppressive men.

Katie Hill was a superstar last summer after Democrats nominated her to face Republican Congressman Steve Knight. The Guardian called her "America's most millennial candidate." And she won. (Before): "Hill, D-Agua Dulce, said the only way to end the two-week-old shutdown is ... to support a House-passed budget resolution that doesn’t include the border-wall funding Trump wants." (After): ... [Friday], five days later, Hill changed sides ... "I mean, I will definitely... I will vote for some money for physical barriers." So no wall. Just physical barriers. Posted by: Jim,SunnyvaleCA,USA | January 12, 2019 at 04:57 AM Iirc, on Thursday, Katie Hill accused Pres. Trump of "political terrorism" wrt his handling of the shutdown and demands for a border wall. By Friday, she had changed her mind and was now stating she would vote for some kind of 'physical barriers.' She must have caught some significant blowback over her 'terrorism' comments. Enough to do an about-face and cave on her opposition. I hope that this is a portent of many others Dims caving soon, too. She won her seat in a staunchly conservative district in the Santa Clarita Valley, just north of Los Angeles, that had *never* elected a Dem to that office. I am still trying to understand how she was able to do that . . . money should not have been a big enough difference maker. And the tweet that henry posted by Charlie Kirk of TPUSA re voter fraud in California is disturbing. It makes me wonder if the Dems pulled off a Philly-level or a Chicago-level amount of voter fraud in CA this past election.

Apologies if this has been posted previously [I am *still* not caught up with JOM/JTH, and probably never will be] . . . It was . . . I see the dipshits are at it again with another attempted assault weapons ban. Posted by: Gentlejim | January 10, 2019 at 08:07 AM The Senate Democrats, led by Diane Feinstein, have quietly slipped a new "Assault Weapons Ban" bill into the Senate legislative process while attention was diverted by the shutdown: https://townhall.com/tipsheet/bethbaumann/2019/01/10/feinstein-and-friends-quietly-introduce-a-major-gun-control-bill-during-the-shutd-n2538811 The bill bans "any assault weapon that accepts a detachable ammunition magazine and has one or more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel or a folding or telescoping stock. Owners may keep existing weapons." And it "Bans magazines and other ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, which allow shooters to quickly fire many rounds without needing to reload. Owners may keep existing magazines." Feinstein tweeted these howlers as justification: Sen Dianne Feinstein ✔ @SenFeinstein Americans across the nation are asking Congress to reinstate the federal ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. If we’re going to put a stop to mass shootings and protect our children, we need to get these weapons of war off our streets. 1:18 PM - Jan 9, 2019 That's why I'm proud to introduce the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019. This bill bans the sale, manufacture, transfer and importation of 205 military-style assault weapons by name. 1:18 PM - 9 Jan 2019 She is getting deservedly slattered on her Twitter feed for this latest attempted ban: https://twitter.com/SenFeinstein/status/1083110887827881984 Yeah, this is sure to "put a stop to mass shootings and protect our children", whatever that means.

caro - I'm sorry to hear of your family's loss. I have been a fan of Mr. Gimbel for years. Mr. Gimbel did a masterful job on "The Girl from Ipanema", along with "Killing Me Softly with His Song" and Jim Croce's "I Got a Name", and the almost-unknown little gem "Richard's Window." The new HouseArmed Services Committee Chair says Trump doesn't really understand border security. By the way, this guy is from the state of Washington so I don't think he has a lot of expertise himself. Posted by: MissMarple2 | January 06, 2019 at 10:24 AM Adam Smith has *no* real background in the military or law enforcement - so anything he says about the border, or the benefits (or lack thereof) of a wall are merely his repeating of Democrat talking points. He is a lawyer by profession - but perhaps one of the most unimpressive lawyers I have ever heard speak. He became a politician in his senior year of law school, and passes himself off as a 'moderate' (who always votes with the mainstream leftists). Per his House website, https://adamsmith.house.gov/biography , he believes in "the importance of passing comprehensive immigration reform." He also wants "to pass legislation that creates a pathway to citizenship" and is a "leader in advocating for new legislation and policy changes to reform deportation and detention policies." Just the sort of phony moderate that all of the LIV's are being indoctrinated in schools to vote for in our brave new world.

For anyone familiar with the Smithsonian Channel series "Aerial America" . . . The Smithsonian Channel is holding a marathon right now of the entire series of one-hour programs. They are filmed by flying planes and drones over scenic areas, cities, monuments, and places of historical interest in all of the 50 states. For anyone with an interest in America's geography, history, and scenic beauty - this is *the* series to watch, imo. They have a mild lefty slant to some of the stories they tell as they roll the photos, but the program is beautiful, especially in HD.
