I like all the drawing in this. You draw the reindeer and the sleigh, in profile. There is no close up, for instance, where you can cheat and not draw all those reindeer legs.
Nice zoom lines too.
High School Cartoons - 12/16/87
Here's another old cartoon of mine from my high school paper, The Lance. Today's is from December 16, 1987. Here's a bit of the page it was on: And here's the cartoon close up (well, not really): There's a lot I like about this one. It runs the width of the page, that black backgrou...
Ooh! That is one scary dude. Shades of "Fearless Leader," what with that scar!
Evil Guy
Here's just a bit of one of the custom comics I did today: I just like this guy. Technorati Tags: andertoons, cartoon, cartoonist, cartoons, comics, custom
I love these. Thanks for sharing them.
Kids Art
We just finished some family cartoon time (AKA Daddy has a tight deadline and needs the kids occupied so he can work time), and I promised the wee ones I'd post their art on my blog. Bonnie (2 years old) worked on this one for a good hour and 15 minutes: And Henry (5 years old) drew thre...
I like the wee lines at the end of the TV cord to denote it swinging a bit. And the nurse's afro!
High School Cartoons - 2/4/87
Here's another old cartoon of mine from my high school paper, The Lance. Today's is from February 4, 1987. Here's a bit of the page it was on: And here's the cartoon close up: Other than the really punny gag, this cartoon is actually pretty close to what I'd do now. On the bad sid...
My life is divided into 2 parts: the years before I saw Bert dancing "The Pigeon," and the years afterward.
Ernie & Bert
I saw a book recently on comedy teams, and one great one that I thought was missing was Jim Henson & Frank Oz as Ernie & Bert. It's not just nostalgia, Ernie and Bert were comedy genius. Enjoy these as proof: Technorati Tags: andertoons
I like how crazy & nutty this is. I mean, in 4 panels, you got Reagan, the North Pole, Santa, Iran -- WOW!
High School Cartoons - 12/17/86
Here's another old cartoon of mine from my high school paper, The Lance. Today's is from December 17, 1986. Here's a bit of the page it was on: And here's the cartoon close up: The art is actually pretty good, but note to future cartoonists: avoid mixing Christmas and arms-for-hosta...
I like his Moe Howard hair!
High School Cartoons - 10/1/86
Here's another old cartoon of mine from my high school paper, The Lance. Today's is from October 1, 1986. Here's a bit of the page it was on: And here's the cartoon close up: Dunno if I'd just been rejected when I did this, but it's a pretty poor gag, if you can call it a gag at all...
I spent too much time looking at these. They do exude some great personality@
More Little Gray LEGO Bots
I've got some more LEGO bots up at Flickr! Enjoy! Technorati Tags: andertoons, LEGO
Ha ha. You're a brave man. I like Marcos' big ol' shorts in the last panel.
High School Cartoons - 3/5/86
Lately I've been enjoying doing these sort of theme months here at the ol' blog (Decmeber - 1951 King Features Christmas Cards, January - New Site Features), and this month I've decided to delve into my cartooning past and show some cartoons from when I worked on The Lance, my high school paper...
This is way cool! "By your command!"
Large-ish LEGO Bot - Steampunk Cylon
Something I built for an online contest. I think it turned out pretty well. See it bigger over at Flickr. Technorati Tags: andertoons, LEGO, toys
Very sweet and a true observation. I like the narration as a separate area in black, setting it apart from the dialogue -- and the lead guy (you?) slowly listening and, in the last panel, smiling ....
Bullseye, my friend!
Now please go do more.
SAHD Truth #1
Mike Lynch's little slice of life comics have inspired me to finally give a multi-panel comic a try (click on the image to enlarge it). They say you should write what you know, so... Technorati Tags: andertoons, cartoon, cartoonist, cartoons, comics
I like seeing the juxtaposition of cartoons.
Original Cartoon for LEGO Cartoon #2
A while back I posted my second LEGO cartoon, and some folks were looking for the original cartoon that inspired it. It's not up at the site yet, but here it is: And here it is in LEGO: I changed the caption slightly. I'm not sure if it's any better. Anyhow, enjoy! Technorati Tag...
Good gag! Both dead and in love would suck big time.
Did you use reference for that heart?
Andertoons Valentine's Day Card
Just got this in the mail! Lemme know if you see it in the wild... Technorati Tags: andertoons, cards, cartoon, cartoonist, cartoons
Gee whiz! 2 cook cats jumpin' outta a cake with my name on it! Thanks Gizzy & Ellie, and the whole Andertoons LLC, Inc., Ltd. team, for drawing up this delicious delight.
Happy Birthday Mike Lynch!
The family and I wish cartoony pal Mike Lynch a wonderful birthday! Our cats, Gizzy & Ellie, are especially excited: Technorati Tags: cartoon, cartoonist, cartoons
Great photo! And a fabulous window treatment!
You are a brave man.
My Bio
I'd sort of hidden my bio page at the old Andertoons.com, but this time it's front and center in the My Story section: You'll find some information on me and the family, who publishes my cartoons, and an embarrassing photo of me. Enjoy! Technorati Tags: andertoons, cartoon, cartoonist...
You couldn't do the above kinda gag today. I drew a gag cartoon last year with a woman strapping a kid into the backseat of the car with bungy cords because she couldn't find their child safety seat. I think that editors are afraid of showing anything close to being abusive, even though, hey, these are all cartoon characters.
Tune-Up Cartoon Playing Cards
Just when you thought there were no more Washaw cartoons to be had, WHAM!, a whole new set! This time it's car cartoons! Hoo-hoo! Enjoy! Technorati Tags: andertoons, cards, cartoon, cartoonist, cartoons, flickr
When will those "boss chasing secretary around the desk" cartoons come back?
Sorting Cartoon Results
Another new feature of the new Andertoons.com, is the ability for the user to sort their search results by recency, views, or user ratings. You can see it on any search results page in the upper left: When sorting by most recent, you'll see the cartoons added to the site most recently fi...
The bad news is that Henry lied on you, dude! The good news: he may have an outstanding political career ahead of him.
Henry's Joke Corner
Lately the boy has been writing jokes like his old man, and, although I'm biased, they're honestly pretty good! A sampling: Why did the dinosaur cross the road? Because chickens weren't invented yet. What group did the three little pigs join? The Boy Snouts. Why are math books sad? Because ...
Thanks for this clip. A unique voice that, thank goodness, was preserved on video.
And Here's Why...
... I miss George Carlin: Technorati Tags: andertoons, cartoon, cartoonist, cartoons, comics, video
Some great stuff here. Custom work is becoming more and more part of my income.
Custom Cartoons
An increasingly large part of my business has become custom cartoons, so it made sense to make it an increasing larger part of Andertoons.com. Custom cartoons has now been expanded into four new pages: Introduction, Gallery, How It Works, and Pricing. 1) Introduction: The Introduction...
I have a headache.
LEGO Illusion
Check this out: Yep. it's real! And no photoshop! Can you see how it was done? (It took me a bit.) Thanks to Klocki and The Brothers Brick. Technorati Tags: andertoons, LEGO
Dang it. I was hoping it was something naughty.
Guess What This Is
I have lots of Andertoons stuff laying around, but this one is maybe the oddest... Any guesses? The answer on Thursday. Technorati Tags: andertoons, cartoon, cartoonist, cartoons, comics
Ha ha! Love that photo of the artist hard at work! Am I right that the coffee table is no more? I should have bought that coffee table from you and held on to it for an eBay sale in 2030. I coulda made millions. Dammit.
The Andertoons Story
Another new addition to Andertoons.com, is a page about how I got started: You can see the first cartoon I ever sold, the very first Andertoons.com website, and read about my coffee table. Enjoy! Technorati Tags: andertoons, cartoon, cartoonist, cartoons, comics
Wearing my penguin & bowling pin t-shirt helped!
Guess What This Is - Answer
So on Tuesday I asked readers if they could tell what this is: Ready for the answer? Yep, it's my bowling ball! Thanks for playing everyone!
OK, this is great. I love the fact you build these and I look at everything. The psychiatrist's head is spot on. (Love the opening at the top.) And I like the dopey squaresville-looking PC on the couch. But where oh where is your signature, mt friend?!
Lego Cartoon #2
So here's my second LEGO cartoon or vignette or whatever you want to call it. You can see it nice and big, as well as brick and CAD mockups, over at Flickr. Enjoy! Technorati Tags: andertoons, cartoon, cartoonist, cartoons, comics, LEGO
