Drake's "Thank Me Later" Deserves Immediate Gratitude
Months ago Aubrey Graham's (also known by his stagename, Drake) fingers tapped away at his Blackberry keys, whirling lyrics together to give birth to what would become his first official studio album Thank Me Later. In just twelve days in the United States alone, the album sold 604,000 copies and was the number one album on the United States Billboard Chart. Drake, Canadian actor turned rapper has seemingly come out of nowhere... because he actually has. Just a few years ago he discovered his talent for rapping and singing in which few before him had found success (including such names... Continue reading

Shutter Island: My Head Hurts...
Teddy Daniels - Andrew Laeddis, Dolores Chanalk - Rachel Solando. Figure it out for yourself. With all of the twists and turns this movie throws at you I could give you nearly every piece of spoiler information I could and you would still be left wondering what exactly happened. As the movie progressed I made my best attempts at keeping what seems to be the true story line in my head. Although this is quite a difficult task when those facts that the rest of the story lies upon are swept from beneath your feet. Do not get me wrong,... Continue reading

Coolest Dead Person of the Week: Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol has been called a lot of things, some of them very well justified and he may have been substantially different from most of society and even other artists of his time, but I think he just as substantially cooler than the rest of the artists and other big names of his time. Sprinkling himself throughout many areas and types of work, his taste has touched without a doubt nearly every corner of the world. Of course what I find fascinating are his paintings. He tried a lot of styles and techniques in his lifetime, but that is not... Continue reading

iLove iCarly
In five…four…three…two…one…As Miranda Cosgrove’s theme song to iCarly begins, clips of Freddy (Fredward) Benson putting the camera on Carly Shay who captains the show and Sam Puckett who rides shotgun are getting me excited to see what is to come in this episode. iCarly has rarely, if ever disappointed me and I am always looking forward to the world premiere of a new episode. It is not every show nowadays that brings to the table such a unique blend of a cast that can entertain you for what seems like only seconds when in reality you just watched a half... Bowling for Soup: Your Fifth-Grade Hits, My Life-Long Soundtrack
I don’t know about the rest of you, but in the fifth grade when I stepped onto the bus with my Sony CD player and the new Bowling for Soup album at the time; A Hangover You Don’t Deserve, (by the way, I had no clue what a hangover was and why I didn’t deserve one) I was instantly the celebrated as the coolest kid in school. As we walked down the halls and played out at recess, we sang along to hits like “1985” and “Almost” and though we didn’t understand any of the adult-oriented words and did not... Continue reading

Apple iPad: Needs Work
Just two days ago Apple released their "latest and greatest" to the public. It may be their latest item on the market, though i can strongly say that it is their least ingenuitive product (given what they have already shown the world. Called the Apple iPad, it boasts a 9.7 inch LED backlit screen from which you can touch and tap your way through the web as well as many other features, namely its book-reader function. It's just too bad that the iPhone or iPod Touch can already do all of this! Well, minus the book-reader. I don't know about... Continue reading

Michael's Midweek Mashup: Why Cats Are Better Than Dogs
Many of you who know me personally are well aware of my infatuation with my two amazing domestic house cats, Kiki and Peanut. They are two beautiful tabbies, aged 8 and 5 respectfully. For the purpose of this article, I am going to focus mostly on Kiki, as he is the closest thing I have to a brother, and if I had to pick favorites, it would be him. My family found Kiki in the summer of 2001 at the Hamilton County Humane Society. He was originally going to be for my sister’s birthday. However, Kiki and I quickly developed... Continue reading

Save Me, Mr. Walkin' Man
By now I think I have had enough time to gather all of my thoughts and consider and reconsider all of the possible scenarios and causes that produced the final result. But it all comes back to one thing…which I cannot tell you without ruining the movie (at least in my opinion). If you understand why I have just stated all of this, then you have probably seen The Book of Eli. A stunningly moving film that gets at you so indirectly it hurts. I still cannot reach my head all the way around the entire concept of the movie,... Continue reading

Michael's Midweek Mashup: DJ-erraerra-Hero
Released in October of last year, Activision’s DJ Hero has been making some noise in the gaming industry. The game was developed by FreeStyleGames, and was announced in early 2008 to the public. Since its introduction on the market however, its sales have been somewhat disappointing. However, there are numerous reasons why it failed to reach analysts’ expectations, notably the public’s unfamiliarity with the art of turntabling. Some call it a knock off of the Guitar Hero franchise, but I think it is an original approach to playing music on a console system. I believe that once people become familiar... Continue reading

In My Headphones: Delta Spirit
Though I’ve had some of their music for quite some time now, and they are not exactly new, debuting in 2005, I’ve really been getting into the band; Delta Spirit in the past few days. Their music grabs a hold of me mostly when I’m absentminded in the car. They’re a fascinating band and I thought I might take a better look at what they’re all about. With quick beats, slow lyrics, and some instrumental genius, Delta Spirit comes together to form a great alternative rock band. With three guitarists and a busker they grabbed off the streets (who actually... Continue reading

Jersey Shore: Taking Over
Eight boisterous, obnoxious, attention-grubbing New Yorkers are stuffed into a Jersey Shore beach house in Seaside Heights. Four guys, “guidos” and four girls, “guidettes.” Followed by MTV cameras, their simple, yet so seemingly-complex (consisting of “GTL” – gym, tan, laundry) life along the shore is wildly entertaining and engrossing. After being told about the show by many of my friends, I decided that I would give it a try. I started with an episode that was somewhere in the middle of the current debut season and quickly picked up the roles of each of the housemates. They are not hard... Continue reading

Why Not Wiki it?
3,156,960 articles. 19,123,931 pages in total. There have been 359,482,102 edits. There are 870,137 uploaded files. There are 11,394,907 registered users. These are the most up to date (today) statistics, gathered daily by wikipedia itself and posted on their page. These are staggering and incredible in my opinion. There is no physical encyclopedia with 3,156,960 articals let alone 19 million plus pages. Created by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger, Wikipedia, made its internet debut as "Nupedia" on January 10th, 2001, and was changed to "wikipedia.org" on the 15th of January. This day is known to some as "Wikipedia Day." It... Continue reading

Rihanna's New Album "Rated R" - Reccommend E for Everyone
Barbadian native, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, better known as "Rihanna", is undoubtedly one of the leading popular artists of the decade. Surfacing onto the music scene with her first album in 2005; Music of the Sun, hits such as Pon de Replay, Umbrella, Disturbuia, and most recently Hard have defined the Rihanna that you love today. After being signed by Jay-Z at Def Jam Recordings, this "Good Girl Gone Bad" paired up with a slew of artists like Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake, Akon, and Jay-Z himself to produce a plethora of chart-toppers. Also not to be left off her resume... Continue reading

Newsflash! Aliens DO Exist
As many children always have, I have been pondering as to wether or not aliens from a different planet actually exist. Now before I get into my arguement I would like to give you the pretext of my spiritual beliefs. I am not an athiest, nor an anarchist, and I do not believe in any magic. I am a faithful Christian, but I also believe in natural selection and evolution, though I also recognize that humans have overcome the "normal" historical patterns of natural selection. Also you might be wondering, yes I do believe that Christianity and natural selection can... Continue reading

A Decade Under the Influence of Captain Underpants
Meet George Beard and Harold Hutchins. George is the kid on the left with the tie and the flat-top. Harold is the one on the right with the t-shirt and the bad haircut. Remember that now. I have just completed re-reading my collection of Dav Pilkey's "Captain Underpants" series. I dare say that they have impacted my life as much now as they did 10 years ago. I believe that George and Harold revolutionized and defined what it meant to be a reckless-trouble-making kid of the decade. But, these are not the only two history-making characters that recieve appearances in... Continue reading

Farmville: An Agri-Web Revolution
I have to harvest soon, so I'll make this short. Farmville is quickly taking over the web via Facebook. Its a hot young star burning bright and it doesn't seem to be fading anytime soon. I must admit that I myself judged the book by its cover in that everytime I recieved an invite or notification for the app, I thought it would be a lame waste of time. I was very wrong... It was thanksgiving, around seven or eight pm. I was extremeley bored and could find nothing else to do. So I figured I would give this internet... Continue reading

The Legacy of Spongebob Squarepants
If you are between the ages of 0 and 53 you most likely know who Spongebob Squarepants is. Concieved in 1984 by Stephen Hillenburg, Spongebob rocked the modern world of children and adults alike upon its first nickelodean airing on May 1st, 1999. The show started as just another loveable cartoon, but it was not to remain that way. Spongebob quickly became a worldwide sensation and a household name. But, Spongebob was not without controversy. He has been accussed of being a homosexual (presumably with close companion Patrick Star). Though the creator has claimed that he represents a near-asexual. In... Continue reading

StumbleUpon.com: Discover Your Internet
Stumblupon.com is my most recent time-killer/educator. It is easy to lose track of time “stumbling” onto new sites that suit just my interests – which I can constantly edit. What exactly is StumbleUpon.com? – Exactly what it says it is. This genuine search engine takes input from its users, primarily your personal input, and customizes a random search of the Internet for things that might interest you. It is easy and fun to use. Not to sound like an advertiser, but it really will take away that feeling that once you check your regular sites, you are done on the... Continue reading

It grips hold of you and never lets go until a highly satisfying close. My initial thoughts going into the theatre was that it would just be another average movie and justified the price of the ticket by the fact that I was getting some quality time with my friends. I was blown away. Written and directed by James Cameron, this movie has been... Continue reading
