One year I used my husband's drill to do holes in a pattern of words like "BOO" (saw in Martha Stewart magazine). They looked really cool! My husband was not so happy. 4. In 1st or 2nd grade we each were sent home with a pumpkin seed plant. We planted mine and it grew all the way around the house and one pumpkin got pretty big. We carved it and put it out for halloween and the neighbor kid smashed it. 5. We used to bake pumpkin seeds from the pumpkins we carved.

Here is Missouri, it is usually the heat, a tornado or snow storm that causes power outages. None of that going on right now thankfully. Prayers out to all of those in Sandy's path.

1. I was the youngest so I listened to what my siblings listened to. I used to sneak in my sister's room and listen to her 45's. 2. As I got a little older I had my own record player. Whatever was popular in the 60-70's is what I listened to. 3. I remember at age 16 getting my own 8 track player in my car. Bought it second hand at a yard sale. Played Rolling Stones "Tumbling Dice" is only one I can remember. 4. I didn't favor country music until I was older and it got more modern. 5. Who can forget American Band Stand, Soul Train and other musical shows :)

1. Affton Senior High had grades 10-12. Gaunt was a 9th grade center. We were to last class at Gaunt they closed the building in 1976. After that the 9th graders went to the high school. I graduated in January 1979 because I had enough credits and I wanted to go to work...how stupid? 2. Our mascot was the cougar. I wanted to be the mascot with the cheerleaders, but didn't try out. Small regret. Still remember some of the cheers. 3. Our school had a swimming pool and we had a uniform swim suit. It was a one piece, navy blue over sized suit designed to be unattractive. With that we had to wear white rubber swim caps that pulled your hair. 4. Loved home coming. One year we made a float for some class/club I belonged to. It was fun. Football games, bon fires and dances...good times. 5. I was a wrestling statistician. 6. We had a smoking area outside the cafeteria - Wow how times have changed. 7. Our senior took a bus trip to Florida went to Disney World, boarded a Cruise Ship the Bahamas - too fun!
