Also make sure you hit up Hai Ky Mi Gia, Lime Tree, San Tung, Farmerbrown's Little Skillet, Fresca, and Nopa!

@Kirk - Thank you!! :)
@Ed - Thanks!! :)
@Cathy - Good to hear see you too!
@Buddha - I got my pork belly from Whole Foods; the butchers can special order for you and trim/etc. They were super awesome in ordering the ingredients I needed for making porchetta. Most Ranch 99's will also have it.

Fish 3 Days, Fish 3 Ways Day3: Porcini Crusted Halibut with Truffled Polenta
After having the delicate Olive Oil Poached White Sea Bass, the Missus wanted something a bit more "earthy". Her request for the next day was, "something with mushrooms.....lots of mushrooms......" This one was easy for me....well to conceptualize. Getting it done after work in time for dinner.....
Wow... I'd be so sick of Pho!! We have a Pho Hoa near us that's really crappy but open until 3am. It's our default go to if its super late and we need food. After eating there regularly for 2-3 months, I was completely Pho-ed out. *shudders* I can only imagine what it's like to eat that many bowls within two weeks!!!
When I was living down there, we'd drive out to Pho Ca Dao in Mira Mesa.... maybe when you're over the MSG disorder you can head north! :D
Pho-raging around Kearny Mesa: Pho T Cali, Pho Mignon and Grill, Pho Cali, Pho Fusion, Phuong Trang, Pho Convoy Noodle House, and Viet Bakery and Pho
A couple of months ago, I was having a particularly terrible bowl of Pho in the Kearny Mesa area. Thinking I'd try to be especially witty, I texted "aw-pho", sorry, it was a bad pun exacerbated by bad soup, to a bunch of my friends. Which started a terrible round of bad phopuns lasting almost tw...
Looks delicious!!!
Happy New Year!! ;)
Fish 3 Days, Fish 3 Ways Day 2: Olive Oil Poached White Sea Bass topped with Tapenade
I felt rather triumphant, having exceeded the Missus's expectations....basically pulling a recipe out of my....well, you know where, and making something She really enjoyed. The following day, the Missus sent me a text, telling me She, "wanted fish made totally differently from anything I've mad...
*drool* you're making miss san diego so much!!!!
Point Loma Seafoods- a revisit
mmm-yoso!!!, the blog you are perusing, is musings about food consumed or prepared by one of us- Kirk, ed(from Yuma), Cathy or some other friends. Today, Cathy is musing. Because, Kirk and His Missus are on vacation. Hi. I've been to Point Loma Seafoods countless times. I've only posted once...
@foodhoe - they dont' force us, but its encouraged that we participate in the health and wellness programs...
@Jonathan - the biegnents WERE amazing... my motivation for the gym right now is to head there again after this challenege is over.
@bill it came out to be about 15 a person since we ordered 3 items. The omelette was around 9-10 and the french toast was around 8-9 and the biegnents were around 8. Throw in a glass of orange juice and brunch we got breakfast and lunch out of the way!
@ Carol - the crawfish one's my fav! :)
It's So Easy to Gain Weight from the Big Easy!
Hi Everyone! :) It's Vicky again... blogging about my gluttony up here in the Wonderful SF Bay Area. Actually not too wonderful as we're getting another storm pass through. So my workplace placed us in teams and challenged us to a weight loss challenge.. a "Biggest Loser" or sorts. Before the ch...

Dry Fried Green Beans - Gan Bian Si Ji Dou
I've received emails in the past about various meals that have been posted. Most of those meals are family-style Chinese in nature, and those emails comment about the paucity of vegetable dishes. I'll let you in on a little secret....we love leftovers. The Missus also believes (perhaps a little ...
yummy!!! i'm missing so-cal....
Road Trip: Banh Cuon Tay Ho - Garden Grove (Orange County)
On one of trips to "the OC", we were in need of a snack, and was in the Garden Grove/Westminster area. The Missus and I thought some Banh Cuon would do the trick, especially since the Banh Cuon in San Diego really doesn't match up to what you can get in the Little Saigon area. Because we were ...
omg... we finally got a santouka up here in the mitsuwa shopping center too! i haven't had a chance to go yet. looks amazing!!!
Ramen Revisits - Chopstix, Tajima, Gunco Ramen, Teri Cafe, and Santouka
The recent weather made me want some ramen. So I decided to revisit a bunch of places I've posted on before. This really isn't a comparison, as my favorite style of ramen is Tonkotsu style, which is made by rapidly boiling pork bones, making the broth a rich, cloudy white. Not all of these shops...
@ ed - I have a bad habit of reading and oogling at food blogs before lunch.
@Kirk - I agree! It's quite strange!
@Carol - I hope you did get a chance to eat at Darda before you left!
@Janfrederick - YAY!!! :) They also have a bunch of really good dishes... just hard to order a lot when its two of us!
Darda Seafoods - Amazing Chinese-Islamic Food
It's Vicky again... blogging away about another restaurant up here in the Bay Area. Sam and I recently moved in the Bay Area and left the vicinity of this restaurant that used to be a staple-go-to-place. For months we didn't swing by but would occasionally entertain the thought of eating there....
Mmmm!!! I love wings too! Sam and I eat at this KFC joint (Korean Fried Chicken) and the mix comes with drumsticks and wings... he eats the drumsticks and I get the wings!
You guys REALLY need to visit SF area! Your post reminds me of my fav wing place in the city...
Chicken Wing Thing - City Dragon
If you ever want my undivided attention, all you need to do is say "chicken wings". If you've read through enough posts, you know that I kinda have a thing about chicken wings..... from Fish Sauce Chicken Wings at Que Huong to trying my hand at making Chicken Alice's legendary Chicken Wings, and...
@janfrederick - I wasn't adventurous enough in trying the gator... I saw it on the menu and squirmed. I had tasted a small nibble at the Gilroy Garlic Festival and found it rather.... gator-y...
@nhbilly - Thanks!! It was awesome! I loved Texas!
@Sandy - I would have totally done what you did!! The food there is really really good!!
@Kirk - It was fantastic! I was ready to hibernate after my trip. We also stopped by and ate Texas BBQ, Crawfish boils, etc. Unfortunately I had forgotten my camera at his house and had to resort to iPhone pictures for those.
Texas I Go Go!
Hello! It's Vicky again... This time not writing about the amazing food we get up here in the SF Bay Area. Sam and I took a trip to visit his family in Texas. The last time I was in his neck of the woods was back when I was 3. It was a fantastic trip and he scheduled around my stomach... and bal...
Oh my goodness! That's definitely a 1 star restaurant. Let me know when you're up in the Bay Area and Sam and I will take you guys out to Great China... AMAZING peking duck there!
Nha Hang Quoc Te
When we moved to San Diego the Missus and I tried the two locations of Quoc Te severals times.... and had some horrendously bad meals. It ended up that the only thing I'd ever get at Quoc Te is the Banh Cuon, which is a bargain at a shade over six bucks. Over the last couple of years however, I'...
