Sierra Journal serves two functions for me. First, it's where I pour out my passion for mountain sports. Second, it's my digital media lab where I test out new ideas, media gizmos and gadgets. I've gone through periods of intense activity as well as periods of month-long stagnation. But it's been a constant project since 2006. Last week I added two new features to the site: Tynt and the "Like" Facebook Plugin. I was also accepted into Google News search results. Between those three things, I somehow managed to hit a homerun. My traffic increased from a very modest 50-100... Continue reading

Wow man, Matthew Crest is one seriously fun climb. The standard south-to-north traverse starts out with a couple of 5.6-ish pitches followed by a long sustained knife-edge ridge, then ends with 5.7 pitch up a tower on the north end.... Continue reading
