Timothy, You stated that "Tables should generally follow our guideline of double-spacing, but single or one-and-a-half spacing is acceptable if necessary." So, is it okay that most tables are double spaced and one table is single spaced (otherwise it would run onto another page) or should all tables use the same spacing?

I am writing the results chapter of my dissertation. I have one table that is so long that it will not fit all on one page, although my school says tables should not split across pages. The entire paper is written in Times New Roman 12 point font. All text is double spaced; however the tables are single spaced. Should I make the font size used in the table smaller so the entire table fits on one page or should I just split the table across two pages? If I change the font size on that one table, do I need to change the font size on all the other tables in the paper so they are all consistent? If I split the table between two pages should I have table headers repeat on the second page? Another problem I am having is I should only have one table per page. There is one page where two tables are shown. Should I force the second table to be moved to the next page, leaving about 2-2.5 inches of white space on the previous page or is there a different way it should be fixed?

Thanks for the great examples as to how to quote study participants. That helped answer one of my own questions. Another question I have is do the participant quotes have to be included as part of the paragraph it corresponds with (like you would do when quoting a printed piece of literature) or can participant quotes stand out from the paragraphs (displayed in a box directly under the corresponding paragraph) still using quotation marks and identifying who said it (by notating Participant 1, 2, 3, etc.)? I ask this because I have a number of quotes that I would like to stand out from the regular paragraphs. Some of the quotes are less than 40 words. Most of the quotes are more than 40 words. For some paragraphs there are two or three corresponding participant quotes to include in the paper. It would be nice if I could display all participant quotes the same way, instead of some being included in the paragraphs and some being shown as block quotes.
