Game Dev Story Illustrated Game Covers (and more drawings)
Right now I'm still drawing as much as I possibly can, which is pretty fun. I'm inventing small projects for my own amusement, which have ranged everywhere from portraits of beautiful Six Apart colleagues, to Kate Bush fan art, to these illustrated game covers. Based off game titles listed in...
These are great, Tiff! Are you working on a Wacom?
Quick tip for maintaining all of the detail in your line work: After you scan in your pencil drawing, double click it to change it from a BG layer to a regular layer. Then select "Multiply" for that pencil layer in the layer property drop down. You can then create subsequent layers under your main layer, add color, etc., without altering your main pencil drawing at all.
Can't wait to see more!
A few recent art works by yours truly
In the Sky I'm finally starting to warm up to my tablet, after years of neglect! Though I still haven't quite adjusted to creating line-work (I'm still scanning hand-drawn works) I've started to color some drawings here and there to practice developing color palettes and digital painting. It's ...
Isn't Shake Shack the best? They just opened one up right by us here at Nick. The line is always out the door, but man, those burgers sure are worth the wait:)
Oh, Hello. Blog on a plane!
Friends! Happy Friday and Labor Day. [Hot Dog], I'm back to the blog (I missed you) and I have at least a handful of things that pertain to my interests to post in the coming week. I've been on planes and trains and convertible automobiles of late so I haven't had much time to report to the we...
Caught "Inception" as well. I really dug it, but didn't think it was the "second coming" of film as we know it. Loved the way the film built to that dream upon dream upon dream crescendo, and the "Hallway Fight" was pretty damn cool!
"Breaking Bad" is an incredible show! You're going to be shocked where it goes. Stay with it if your interest is only piqued right now. It's one of the best dramas on the tele right now!
"Limbo" hit the Xbox today! I nabbed it this morning to avoid the rush. I'm DYING to get home to play it tonight!! The reviews have been stellar!
STUFF & THINGS
STUFF & THINGS. from Jack Cunningham on Vimeo. For you readers, an enchanting animated short by Jack Cunningham called STUFF & THINGS that I've had the good intention of posting for a while. The reel's title does a fine job explaining what you'll see in the video, a quick sequence of ...

CROM!
Being a BIG fan of this film, I had to post this. It’s not particularly funny per se, but the lyrics are very, very clever (if you know the flick as well as I do). The song is pretty catchy too. Enjoy! -Mooch- Continue reading

Studio Ghibli + PS3 = Pixelated GOLD.
Oh man. Miyazaki. Studio Ghibli. PS3. Yeah, let that sink in before you watch the vid. The score alone warrants a purchase! I’m not sure as to how the game plays, but if you hang to the end of the video, you’ll see it almost looks a bit like DragonQuest... Continue reading

Viva Eric Chahi!
He’s back! He’s back! When I read Kotaku’s post regarding Eric Chahi’s newest gaming endeavor, I almost wet myself in anticipation (you're welcome for the mental image). Eric Chahi is my own personal Jesus Christ, having created one of my favorite games of all time “Another World”. It’s a...

Thanks much Tiff! Glad you like!
I don't mind at all, "Meatball" sold for $250. It was a small piece, so I felt the price was justified, even though I loved it so.
Are you showing work at a gallery and looking for a ballpark for pricing your pieces?
Too Art 4 TV!
My blog's been in desperate need of an art post, so I figured I'd share a few paintings I did for last September's "Too Art 4 TV" show I had the pleasure to be a part of. "Too Art" celebrates the wildly talented animation scene here in New York, and holds an annual gallery showing in Williamsbur...
Love the drawing! They say the Devil’s in the details, and if that’s true, then your drawing is ruler of all of Hades!
And how great is Little Dragon? I’ve only recently become aware of her from her appearance on the Gorillaz “Plastic Beach” album. I downloaded “Machine Dreams” a few days ago and I’m really digging it. Favorite tracks so far are “Never Never” and “My Step”. Man, when she sings the hook in “My Step” it kills me. SO good!
PICROSS 3D 4 LYFE (and other updates)
Hello blog friendos. Hope you all had a terrific FREE-DAY-WEEKEND. While this post lacks a single, concrete subject, it will be full of small things that may be of interest to you. Please to enjoy: I have been playing Picross 3D for the DS non-stop since I bought it a few weeks ago. It's r...

Hmmm. Did some quick digging on this one. Seems a direct sequel might not be what Hideki's focusing on:
In an interview with Game Informer, Platinum Games director Hideki Kamiya explains: "We obviously have love for the work we have created, so I don't see anything wrong with Bayonetta 2. Personally, I'd like to approach the world of Bayonetta from a different angle, in the form of a spin-off."
The obvious choice would be Jeanne, yes? Unless he creates an all new character. It would be sick if you got to play the game from the opposing viewpoint, as one of the forces of Jubileus. It'd be like digital 'shrooms or something...
If it's Luka though, god help us all...
Bayonetta vs. Bechdel - Does the Bechdel Test apply to videogames?
Some of you are familiar with The Bechdel Test for film, but for those who aren't it's a simple set of rules that can be applied to movies in attempt to "...gauge the active presence of female characters in Hollywood films and just how well rounded and complete those roles are." The rule orig...
My pleasure Tiff. Great post, great conversation started as a result.
When you've got a free moment, you should give either or of the recent Tomb Raider's a whirl. I enjoyed "Underworld" quite a bit. It's a shame it didn't sell that well...
And, yeah, that Sheeva costume is re-goddam-diculous. It's a head shaker...
@Giolon: Ah, but it seems it would have to do with a romantic male lead, or at the very least, a living male lead, no? I don't remember every bit of dialogue from "Underworld", but Lara's father has been dead for quite some time. In essence it's very much like referring to King Arthur or Thor. More of a presence than an actuality.
And this just occurred to me. Bayonetta sold like gangbusters, yes? Can you even imagine what Hideki has in store for the sequel?? Whoo-boy.
