Ohhh...this is a good one. It really made me think about how I truly approach my day. I guess I hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I am the one who just told my husband, who was going outside to work on the garden, to "Have fun but if you accidentally sever a limb call me on the house phone not my cell because it's not charged." He just kind of looked at me like I was crazy. I know there's gotta be other people that think like that!
I'd like to be an optimist, but I'd rather not deal with the "let down". . .
On Monday mornings I walk into my office and say, "Something will go wrong. That's OK. It will be OK." I know. I should say, "Everything will be great. Today will be awesome and so will the rest of the week." But seriously, if I go the way of the optimist I could be setting myself up for a le...
Uh-oh. You're done for now! :)
Oh! I want money!
When the snow storm hit Thursday I noticed two boys shoveling a sidewalk across the street and I had a feeling they were shoveling for money. I shut our outside light off so they wouldn't ask to shovel our sidewalk, mainly because I didn't have any cash on me. Jonathan was watching the young me...
I don't think it's so weird you'd want to see her bathroom...actually I think you're kinda entitled to see whatever you want in her house...but that's just my opinion. :)
Maybe she has an air freshener that smells like birthday cake or just really soft towels...whatever it is it sounds like it's the place to poop!
Hey, lady! I want to see your bathroom!
We've been working with Jonathan on potty training for awhile now and, though I'm slightly afraid to say it, for fear it will all change, he's pretty much fully potty trained - except for the pooping in the potty at home thing. In the beginning, Jonathan would only pee and poop on one toilet ...
Breathtaking! Love, love, love!
I Heart Faces: Hands On Fun!
My son loves to play in the tub with his superheroes and his Lego men! Find more I Heart Faces (theme this week is "hands-on fun!") on their web site.
I'm not going to write a comment telling you how I cried reading your post.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Hang in there.
He was just a cat. A stupid cat. A stupid, sweet cat.
He had a good life. He had a long life. You couldn't let him suffer. He wouldn't have lived a normal life. He's in a better place. I've heard each of these statements at least once since Thursday afternoon and I can't say I disagree with any of them. They're right. They're accurate. T...
I'm just the opposite. I get annoyed if someone asks me about something that I have already explained on facebook. I recently had a root canal. I put on facebook that I was sitting in the dentist's chair waiting for the Novocaine to kick in for my root canal. The next day at work someone asked if I had a root canal. Hello! I put it on facebook! Don't you read what I say on there? It's like no one is even listening to me.
:)
Facebook tells the story before I can ... no fair!
I'm a person who likes to share information. Usually too much information. I like to "tell the story." If there is "big news" to tell to the family, I want to tell it. And usually I do, unless Brother beats me to it, which he sometimes does. Jerk. Lately, though, I've begun to realize that Fac...

Very cool pictures and very cool idea! Love it.
You Capture: Love Around Your Home
This week, the idea for You Capture was to photograph items in your home that show love, or mean love. For more You Capture, visit Beth at I Should be Folding Laundry. (From my grandmother. . . it has a music box inside). This belonged to my great-grandmother and was a gift from my two a...
I'm sorry but I honestly do not find any of those images humorous...I especially don't find anything funny about a baby chewing on a rifle. I get that they (Heavy.com) are trying to be funny...but really? Some of these parents should be reported to CPS!
The 20 Worst Parenting Fails: Uhhh FAIL! Doesn't Even Begin To Cover These
I'm sure we all have moments where we fear we've made some mistakes and bad choices as parents. But WOW, I think it's pretty safe to say NOTHING you've done has anything on these people. DISCLAIMER: Some of the article referenced here -- okay, who am I kidding, ALL OF IT -- is genuinely frea...
Oh man! That's horrible (and a little funny at the same time ;)). I hope you and your little guy feel better soon!!!
Nothing like a good ole' stomach flu. . .Or not.
I felt the twinge in my stomach Friday afternoon while at work. By Friday night my toilet and I were the best of friends.Today I am eating gingerly to be sure all is well with the stomach. Jonathan is dealing with pink eye again and a runny nose. Ever so often I hear this: "My eye!" and a squeal...
Loving Delurk Day! I read you all the time in my Google Reader...but here's a proper "Hello!"
DeLurk Your Pants Off
It’s DeLurker Day 2010! Do you read Velveteen Mind but rarely or never comment? Do you follow me on twitter but never talk to me? Today is your day to end your “lurking” and say hey! Let me know you are there! A simple “hey” will literally do. Or you could go the bossy constructive route and...
I went on the cruise too with my best friend and her childhood friend from middle school -- it was a BLAST! We got to touch them all...so weird but that was our mission...Joey was my favorite but he was a little standoffish -- Jon was the most personable - LOVE HIM!
Coming out of the closet . . . not THAT closet!
The closet in my old bedroom was full of items from some of the most embarrassing moment of my life. I couldn't believe Dad had asked me to clean it out. What, he didn't want to hold on to all my New Kids on the Block souvenirs, posters of rock stars, and old Nancy Drew books? Apparently not bec...
I love taking those trips down memory lane...especially to the most embarrassing years of our lives...I still have journals and notebooks I shared with friends...we were so lame...if only I knew then what I know now!!!
If I were to go through my adult closet I would actually find a NKOTB t-shirt...that I bought in May...on the NKOTB cruise...so yeah. I'm still *that* cool.

Yikes! A trip to the ER isn't the best way to start out Christmas but I'm glad you got to spend a quiet day at home. I wish I could offer you advice on how to get those drops in his eyes but mine is 10 and I still have to bribe, beg, and threaten to get her to take Tylenol. I hope your eye is feeling better and wish you and your family a Happy New Year!
A little pink eye for Christmas . . .
The goo in Jonathan's eye Christmas morning, along with expected freezing rain, signified our family wouldn't be going anywhere for Christmas except to the ER (the only medical facility open) and then back home again. After a quick Christmas breakfast at Hubby's grandfather's we headed to...
Adorable!!! My dad does the same thing...he says it helps him think better.
Yeah, he's a bit like me. . .
I've mentioned before how much Jonathan is like his dad (which I like) but it turns out he's a bit like me too. For instance, when I'm working on a project, or thinking about something, I suck on my tongue. I stick it right out and suck on it.I don't even realize I'm doing it. So does Jonathan. ...
Well...out of all them a Calvin Klein model is probably the most lucrative!
What will he be when he grows up?
I don't know what Jonathan will be when he is older . . . Right now he likes superheros, but I'm not sure there are many openings for those at the moment -- unless Superman dies again (and comes back to life and then dies again and then . . .) Maybe he'll build things. . . Maybe he'...
I think the closet "big" city (and by that I mean they have a Walmart) is Mansfield. Although I think my family actually pronounces it "Walmark". ;)
Just focus! FOCUS!
Sunday was a Do-Nothing Day. I like those days. We visited my parents in the country and once again Jonathan and I found ourselves at my parents old barn. I had no intention of entering the barn until Crazy Dog decided to slip inside and twist his leash around an antique table leg. Then Crazy Ch...
I miss the snow, but I think that is because I only knew it as a kid, not as an adult with responsibilities to scrape it, shovel it or drive in it. :)
Yeah. He's wearin' "fli-lops in winter." So?
I let my son wear "fli-lops" on Sunday. But they are actually sandals. He calls them "fli-lops." I'm not sure where he even heard the word. Maybe at the sitters because we don't wear fli-lops at our house. I let him wear them because he had socks on and because it wasn't that cold out. I...
I love the out of focus picture the most! What a beautiful place...it reminds me of my family's land in PA...so peaceful.
