I leaned on you today
Do you guys listen to the Strangers podcast from KCRW? I have a soft spot for KCRW from the brief period when I took enrichment classes at Santa Monica College. It's hands-down the best NPR station for music and in... Continue reading

Keep me away from apathy while I am still awake.
I am so late to the party on this music recommendation, but trust me, it's a doozy. Hundred Waters are a Floridian band who make vibrant, crisp electronica music that carries you away. Their 2014 album The Moon Rang Like... Continue reading

Things I find immensely comforting right now:
Experimenting with digital watercolor brushes. An indie folk album from The Acorn called Glory Hope Mountain. It was one of my favorites from 2007 and it is more poignant and lovely now than it ever was. You can listen to... Continue reading

Pillow Talk Turns Into Sweet Dreams
Hi, hi, hi! I've been listening to a lot more music in the past few weeks as I'm coming off a podcast kick. Music and reading go hand in hand for me, and I'm doing a lot more of the... Continue reading

An Update or Sorry for My Long Absence But I Had Ghost Monsters Inside of Me
The highlights of this week have definitely been: the happy response I got from a client after she received some dreamy pink floral party items which I'm especially proud of. my new haircut, which is a long, layered bob that's... Continue reading

I wanna know, what's your quietest feeling?
Me lately: clumsy and bumbling, severely irritable, still hopeful, obsessed with chips. I've been spending a little too much time in my home isolation cocoon but I'm not quite ready to emerge yet. I really can't tell whether I have... Continue reading

Turnip Cake Problems
My mom gave me some homemade Chinese turnip cake (Law Bok Gao) that her friend made. I fried it up yesterday and it was awful. I'm not a huge fan of the stuff at the best of times, but I... Continue reading

Down, Up and In
The world through my eyes lately. I'm going through a quiet phase lately. Luckily, the world around me is not. I'm trying to hone my observation skills until my words come back: Continue reading

Parks & Recreation
Tonight is the series finale of Parks and Recreation, and I'm a wreck over it. I can't believe this beautiful, naïve, sophisticated newborn baby of a show is coming to an end. Pawnee is a place full of wackos and... Continue reading

My spices are up in trays on a shelf and I've been meaning to label them for ages so I can pick out what I want at a glance. I kept putting it off though, because it seemed so complicated.... Continue reading

Bright light, it's all around me.
Today is Lunar New Year, so happy new year (again)! Yes, my dad bought me a mini lion dance puppet, and it's incredibly adorable. I've always liked that Chinese New Year falls a half-step behind the Gregorian Calendar New Year's... Continue reading

Flower Fair
Last weekend my parents took us to see the Lunar New Year flower festival at Asian Garden Mall in Westminster. I always knew that certain types of gorgeous blooms were a must for every household in Asia for Chinese New... Continue reading

Hummingbird Life
The hummingbirds have breakfast early around here. They start coming to the feeder when the air is still gray and heavy with fog, gearing up for the day, getting those nectar cappuccinos in. I'm seriously in love with the hummingbird... Continue reading

The Adventures of Pinocchio
I decided to start the year off reading the original The Adventures of Pinocchio (1883) by Carlo Collodi and I was scarred for life by a passage very early on wherein the Jiminy Cricket characters says, 'Pinocchio you're lazy and... Continue reading

I'm taking these guys home with me tonight. #moviesofmyself
I left a bunch of my little desert babies behind in the Bay Area as take-what-you-like freebies for our neighbors. My parents also absconded with a few of my larger succulent arrangements that did make the move. I've been itching... Continue reading

There is an answer in a question.
Oh man, it's gonna be a great year in music. The second album by The Lone Bellow, Then Came The Morning, is here and it's warm, spirited and everything I could've hoped for. Belle & Sebastian, Sleater-Kinney, and The Decemberists... Continue reading

I do feel better knowing that there are other calendar addicts out there keeping me company, and in much more extreme fashion!
The sad part is that I have hardly been checking the date on my calendars at all. I just go straight to my phone! Or actually, I have a really stupid habit where I will open up Google calendars to check different dates. I can't help it - it's just instinct every time.
Calendar
I've gone a trifle calendar crazy this year. Heaven knows why I'm suddenly obsessed with tracking the numbing trickle of days falling away, but I am. And that trickle better have plenty of sweet and twee illustrations, okay? It all started on Cyber Monday when I saw that Rifle Paper Co. was hav...
Oh wow, I had no idea! I know the feeling you're describing exactly though. It's not just a matter of preferring one scent over another either.
I wonder if they change recipes for perfumes. The one that was giving me a terrible headache used to be one of my favorites that I wore often. Now I can't have even the smallest drop.
Five Little Things
1) This sweatshirt is kind of amazing: 2) I've had a headache all morning because I accidentally pressed the spritzer on a perfume bottle while cleaning it. Looks like I'm more allergic to perfume than ever which sucks, because I do love perfume bottles so much. 3) We are back to eating overn...
Dude, I can't imagine!!
Vacuuming the Vacuum
Inspired by the hellish agony of moving, I am super into tidying, minimizing and cleaning now. I read a book about tidying which inspired me to go through our belongings with great zeal. It's like a great annual cull, but for craft supplies. I mean, I ain't playing: So after all of our Christm...
