Indeed, Juhana, that kind of damage proves (may prove) another mechanism behind Alzheimer's disease. Generally, the damage to neurons indicates a possible risk for neurodegenerative diseases. Below is a relevant paper by Xu et al. (2010): Xu, S., Zhou, Z., Zhang, L., Yu, Z., Zhang, W., Wang, Y., … Zhong, M. (2010). Exposure to 1800 MHz radiofrequency radiation induces oxidative damage to mitochondrial DNA in primary cultured neurons. Brain Research, 1311, 189–196. Later, I might add one more mechanism to this blog posting. Thanks Juhana for your inspiring thoughts. Mikko
Risk communication in the world of EMFs often means: heavily financed down-playing of risks. Now, The Spinning 'Dream Team' performs at the 8th World Conference of Science Journalists 2013 in Helsinki, Finland. Their workshop is called "Reporting the health effects... Continue reading

Hallo! The research paper above of Havas et al.(2010) looks at US DECT with 2450 MHz carrier wave (like Wi-Fi), but with 100 Hz pulse (unlike Wi-Fi). MD, cardiologist Stephen Sinatra talks about Wi-Fi in the video above. But, as far as I know, there are no research (papers) focusing on Wi-Fi with 10 Hz Beacon signal and effect on heart. Would it be time to finance it, Dear COST 281 and SCENHIR members in EUrope??
Greetings, Steve. I am positively surprised about Pong cases and their ability to redirect radiation. I did a test with and without a Pong case. Will report RF radiation measurement results soon.
First I thought it was a co-incidence. But, the more I meet young people with heart problems, the more convinced I am that there is a connection. In fact, research shows the connection between heart problems and EMF exposure: -... Continue reading

Please, take a look at those 2 new links to documents of Allan H. Frey. He really is the bioelectromagnetics pioneer who early demonstrated the link between EMFs and depression through modification of dopamine and opiate systems.
To your question Georgy about computer monitors / TFTs: I find current flat monitors much better than earlier CRT (Cathode ray tube) monitors. Especially magnetic fields are much, much lower in TFTs and comply with TCO standards. . In that sense effect on pineal gland and dopamine production might be smaller. However, some people have difficulties with the backlight and flickering of TFTs. . To my understanding, these problems are not often associated with depression.
UMTS - pulsed or not? Good question, Bill. Some say that it is, some say that it is not. In UMTS(3G) data is transferred by phase modulation that has some amplitude modulation that looks and sounds like high frequency noise. Measuring UMTS is complicated, I have noticed that when I have used several measuring devices. I welcome you to look at: - Professor Igor Belyaev's presentation about UMTS: (UMTS is using more frequencies and in wider spectrum than for example GSM. Bill, this presentation includes the 'discontinuous sine waves'-picture) - The measuring report of UMTS by Ph.D, engineer Martin Virnich: (in German) So, UMTS-FDD is unpulsed while UMTS-TDD is pulsed. According to Virnich: "Unter Last, wenn Verkehrskanäle zu den permanent aktiven Steuerkanälen hinzugeschaltet werden, verschwindet die Pulstruktur in der optischen Darstellung und weicht einem rauschähnlichen Signal." Quick translation: Under load, the pulsing disappears.). - What Alasdair Phillips writes about pulsing: (Like pointed out here, in UMTS the pulse is never 'turned off' or go to zero. In that sense it is different from GSM or DECT) What I find interesting is that one of the first UMTS provocation studies by TNO ibn 2003 in in Netherlands showed adverse effects both in sensitive and non-sensitive groups. In that TNO experiment, the UMTS-setup was only(!) using control channels. +++ Any other comments about UMTS(3G) and pulsing?
