Gray, 28, has been added to the Cubs' 40-man roster. The right-hander posted a 3.76 ERA in 24 relief appearances with the Athletics, walking four and striking out 19 in 26 1/3 innings. He did not give up an earned run in 15 of his first 19 outings. Gray split time between the big league team and Triple-A Sacramento. Morla, 21, pitched last season for Class A Vancouver and went 1-7 with a 4.86 ERA in 17 games (12 starts). Spencer, 23, was originally selected by Philadelphia in the third round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft and acquired by Oakland in the 2008 trade that sent pitcher Joe Blanton to the Phillies. A left-handed hitter, he combined to hit .289 between Class A Stockton and Double-A Midland last season. Not exactly what i call a great trade based on stats.
In my opinion, and let me stress MY Opinion, like most others here think. It will probably take Vitters, Castro, and a pitcher to get Doc, and even if they do that, they lose 2 helluva good prospects and a former rookie of the year. Also they probably will only have him for a season, and Doc wants a championship team, which he clearly stressed about during the trade deadline rumors.
