Being military de-cluttering is essential to our life on the move. Since our move to CA I have found that I am stashing things again and realizing it is time, this would be an awesome booster!!!

I just love your yarn. Two years ago I made my first top down sweater with you yarn and it has become my go to sweater. I love the comment of avoiding your burn out. My nephew is a big hiker of the white mountains also and brought pictures of some of his hikes and showed my husband and I. He asked us where we thought the pics were taken we both guessed somewhere in Colorado, California, we were amazed that they were the White Mts. we hope someday after my husband's career in the military is over with to find a spot some where in New Hampshire so we can enjoy the little but mighty coastline and the White Mountains. With a philosophy of Live Free or Die who could say no :-)

My son needs a new big boy quilt. This would be perfect quilt fabric to remind us of our New England home to be. A boat trip this past summer to see the whales. The bright green gardens of my son's grandmother and Auntie Polly in New Hampshire. Crabbing with his Auntie Lynnie on the beach this summer, and famous fish dinner from his Uncle Jimmy a New Hampshire restaurant owner. Simple reminders to remind us of the ones we love :-)

I love that you are making soap! We are in desperate need of new bars! I learned how to make soap via youtube. It got me over the fear of using lye. I also took a great class at John C Campbell Folk School ( www.folkschool.org) this past winter on goat's milk soap. One thing that our instructor talked about that was very informative to me was not to scald the milk. This is why goats milk can sometime have that odor. By keeping below 120 degrees you never get that foul smell that people tend to complain about. I have found by using a constant eye, adding ice rather than water or frozen milk this can keep the temperature from rising too rapidly when you slowly add the lye. I learned so much! Many books do not even talk about the importance of keeping the milk solution at a lower level. If you ever get a chance Amanda I recommend you take a class from the folk school, even if it isn't for soapmaking. The food, community, and views are worth the trip! Thanks for the recipes :-)
PS where do you get your flower dry rack?
making, for later
Will it upset you if I talk about holiday gifts? I'm sorry. I assure you I am the very last person who would wish away summer, and that's not at all what I'm doing. But, there are the realities that soapmaking takes a good deal of curing time; that fall is an incredibly ful...

This picture brings me right back to my childhood in Southern Indiana. We had an acre pond in our backyard and my Mom let me raise duck and geese every spring/summer for our pond, and for 4-H. Sitting by the chicken wire fence for hours watching my little ones in their kiddie pool, holding them while their soft plumb tickled my nose. And on occasion I would sneak them into our bathtub and watch them happily swim and dive. My Mom caught me one year, and winked at me and said just watch out that your Father doesn't see you and just remember to clean out the tub. They were such happy memories!

I just love your room, the celery green one of my favorite colors, and the twinkle lights and a window to gaze out upon while sewing- my dream!
My little room is currently in our basement with robin's egg blue walls but I miss the sunlight, maybe the twinkle lights will help.
Can't wait to hear about camp, i just love your classes!
A Room of My Own
A north facing, celery green painted room is not an easy thing to take pictures of. But, it's all mine so I'm going to let it slide if the tone in these pictures isn't quite right. A couple of months ago we did a little switching around and created this space for me to sink into my w...

I've been reading some Amish novels inspired from my midwestern travels. In the novels they often talk about drinking of meadow tea, and it sounded so soothing to me! The Amish even make a concentrate so they can have it in the winter too. There is many recipes for the tea but here is a link to one-http://happilymarriedtothecows.blogspot.com/2011/06/meadow-tea-recipe.html
tea time
(Thank you, Calvin, for the photos!) A Mama sitting anywhere is an invitation for someone to join her lap, isn't it? I managed to fit two there for just a while in the sidelines of those raspberry bushes, in need of some heavy weeding. It was a tangle of arms and legs and weeds and raspberry ...

We all need to keep inspired through this cold spring! I see you have a juicer. I just bought an Omega juicer a few days ago and waiting for it's arrival. My old juicer is over 10 years old and it doesn't do wheat grass. I wanted to upgrade. Any juicing recipes you would recommend or your favorites?
