i think there were a couple of guys digging.
i'm really not all set up again. the studio took a big hit, and i have yet to rearrange everything. but i'm making progress, if slowly.
thanks.
wordless wednesday: a very big hole for the plumbers
i think a shirt would have been a good idea. they weren't the most professional. i have another guy that i will use for the next problem.

i used to bite my fingernails when i was younger. then i started wearing polish to discourage that. it worked. but now i pull at the skin around my nail. and bite a bit too. it's icky.
Smoking and a Yarn/Pattern Giveaway.
Yeah, I know; it's an old theme, the Lé Slouch Deux, but I have a couple of balls of the Elsebeth Lavold Bambouclé leftover and want to give them away along with a copy of the pattern. You all give so much to me in terms of support and I won't ever use this same yarn any time soon--it's lovely b...
i love toe up socks. i've passed up many a pattern because they are cuff down.
Vintage Modern Knits and Giveaway
Ever hear of Roositud? I didn't, until I read Vintage Modern Knits by Courtney Kelley and Kate Gagnon Osborn. Roositud is actually a form of "knitted embroidery" (my words) that is an Estonian inlay technique where you take a contrasting color yarn and sort of wrap or weave it between the back...
i definitely buy art because i connect with it, not because it matches the sofa. i could see how the licensing stuff could be sort of a drag.
take your blog readers to work day
I've been designing art for stores. Stores I really like and some I have never heard of. Sometimes I license art that I create just because I want to and sometimes I work on assignment. I have an art agent who filters assignments for me and who represents me in dealing with buyers for big sto...
absolutely hate it!
Hand Dyeing Yarn and Knitting With It - Reviews and a Giveaway
I remember years ago dyeing yarn with Kool-aid. I mean, it was sort of all the rage and I confess I knit a pair of socks using the Kool-aid yarn and even though I've worn them and washed them several times I can still detect a bit of Lemon-Lime and perhaps a smidge of Soarin' Strawberry when I s...
it definitely put a damper on things. and it's not over. now my studio
is a big mess with no where to put anything. we lost a lot of shelf
and other storage. :(

most of the stuff can be replaced when i have a bit of money. the
cleaning was such hard work. i'm most upset about all my journals
getting wet. i'm trying to salvage them, but i don't know if i really
can.
cleaning up the flood
we had a ton of rain, and apparently a few of our pipes were cracked. hence the flood. we had no idea what to do at first. it was just so overwhelming. finally john went to the hardware store and bought a pump. there was so much water it took two days to pump it all out. then the remaining...
that's the hole the plumbers had to dig to get to the pipe that was broken. it was a lot of work for them.

omg!! that's the front yard. we were supposed to water the area for
two hours a day so that the raised dirt would go down to level with the
rest of the grass. but then the flood happened, and there is soap in
the hose dispenser. it looks like we buried someone there!

i know, right?

thanks randy. i appreciate the positive thoughts.

i hope you have a basement and didn't have too much damage on the first floor. isn't flooding awful?

so sorry about your puppy. we lost our 19 year old cat recently, so i know how you feel.
Bead Soup...and goodbye to a friend
I'll make this a short post today, and try to get better pictures of my Bead Soup Jewelry later...We awoke this morning to our oldest dog Balou in really rough shape...we knew that this day was coming, but it is still really hard...we had to make the decision to have him euthanized after almos...
amanda, i just love your pieces. i think we should do a trade. :)
Give-Away Time!!!
Sorry for the delay in my give-away...we had a busy few days, and strawberry picking in between...which meant me stirring jam on a hot stove with a kitchen still in renovation mode... All you have to do is leave a comment (on this post please) from today until midnight June 27th...and you wi...
amanda, with what did you cover your plants. we got a light frost last night, but had planned on planting this weekend. i'm worried about my seedlings. would sheets work?
Good Morning Saturday...
These five clasps just went up this morning. I'm working today...but plan on taking some time off on Sunday...to go to the flea market with my family. Shawano is a town just under an hour from our house, and it has a great flea market on Sundays through the fall. Sometimes it's packed, someti...
oh amanda! that all looks so great! i'm especially impressed with the ribbon. when you buy dyed ribbon it costs so much! it looks like you had a great time. i'll have to convince my set of friends to have a dye day too. thanks for the inspiration!
Dye Day Results...
Wow, what a day. We really had a great time outside, and only got rain sprinkles a few times. It was fun to see what everyone brought to dye. We had everything from clothes to wool fleece, and yardage. I took the day off from my jewelry work, and cracked open my new sewing machine so I could t...
it's really not that hard to grow veggies. we started with plants until
this year. you just need a really sunny spot. and then water almost
every day when it's really hot. give it a try! there's nothing better
than fresh, fresh veggies.
spring seedlings
i'm really not a winter person. the lack of light and the cold both negatively affect my depression. but the one great thing about january is the arrival of the seed catalogs. a little bit of spring in the mail! in previous years i've poured over these and imagined what my garden would loo...
i was very interested in the class, but can't afford it right now. my blog is stale. http://newfry.typepad.com
i'm updating to wordpress and am having trouble even thinking of a new banner. i think the class would really help. thanks for offering the giveaway.

Crafting a Blog and a Giveaway
When I started blogging less than a year ago I had no idea what direction I wanted my blog to take. I had a private blog where I posted pictures and little stories about our daily lives but I felt the need for something a little different. I always enjoyed writing. I remember very young writi...
