Seven Quick Takes
(one) Breaking News-my children played by themselves for over an hour yesterday morning. First they played individually and then they sat atop a table and pretended it is a boat on a river. It is nice when children are well behaved. (two) We have picked almost 60 pounds of organic blueberries ...
Sarah, trying to figure out the email response of this new typepad system. Will you pop back and tell me if you received this in your email box. I just sent you another response but realized another possible way to correct the problem I am having with the system.
Thanks,
Nina

We just finished reading the On the Banks of Plum Creek and the photos remind me of the story of the deep area of the creek where Mary and Laura were not allowed to go.
Looks like a fun way to cool off.
swimming in the deep end
Last night after dinner, we ignored the dishes and headed down to the stream. I've been itching to take Ruby down there for quite awhile, because I had the feeling she was ready to really enjoy the water. To really swim. The last time I'd been down there with her, she was still pretty shy, onl...
Beth, we love Pigsty but haven't explored many of his others. I'm expecting that Silas will love his books. He has quite a sense of humor unlike his sister and mom. ;)
Some Favorite Books & a Winner
Here is a sneak peek of some of the books that might be on my top 100 picture book list. I created these Amazon lists (some time ago) to share some of my recommendations over the last three years. I would recommend any of these for gift giving. Take a look and let me know if you see a favorite...
You do like books about cats. BTW, my kids liked Six Dinner Sid. My two year old keeps asking "why Sid eat six dinners?" Cate thought it was funny.

Just popping on to totally agree with about the food mill. I have the same one and found it delightful to use. That said, I recently picked up a thrifted immersion hand blender. I love it too. Last night my 5 and 2 year old had blended potatoes, broccoli and chicken. It was like soup but thicker and less messy.
Your blue eyed baby is so adorable.
crafting for food
Will you look at who's decided it's time to eat? I tried telling him it wasn't time. I tried telling him he wasn't missing anything. And then I got more insistent and told him that his role as fourth baby was to stay a baby. That he should stop this request for food, this demand to craw...
Thanks for linking to the Food Inc. Trailer. I just added it to my Netflix list. And thank you for linking to Cookus Interruptus. I've been meaning to look it up. The author is associated with my food co-op. I also keep meaning to check to see if she is teaching a class soon. I love her cookbook too!
accepting all sprouting advice
We starting sprouting last week and I have a few newbie questions. Please feel free to fire away and share your wisdom in the comments! First, I think I used too many beans. The directions said to use 1/2 cup for this jar but it just seems like too much. Shouldn't they be in more of a singl...
