Thank you, Annie! Did you ever get your surgery date scheduled? My recovery has been going very well. Nothing crazy has happened - everything happening as expected except for maybe my swelling being pretty minor - but that's a good surprise! I posted a video today of what I look like 1 week after surgery. You can watch it here:
Thanks, Erin! I'm one week into my recovery and doing good so far.
Hi Bethany - I totally understand. I was really scared for my first surgery, and I'm nervous about my second surgery next week. Sending you love and support.

Hey love - The sarpe surgery expanded my palate, but I still have to have it moved forward b/c I was born with my palate set too far back in my head. Dr. Fonseca will be moving my upper palate forward, and then instead of moving my entire lower jaw he will just detach and move my chin back. He said my lower jaw is actually in a good position but if they didn't move my chin then I would look 'funny' - basically the whole lower half of my face would be way forward, so that's why he has to move my chin. Does that make sense? xo!
I've started a Facebook page for those who are considering jaw surgery or who are already going through the jaw surgery process. You can Click Here to Like the Page. Right now the fan following is very small, but my hope is that eventually this page will be a place... Continue reading

Stephanie, My teeth weren't loose yet - the surgery will prevent them from becoming loose down the road :)
Yay! Silly on! xo
My upper and lower jaw surgeries are only 35 days away! I'm feeling a mixture of excitement and dread as the big day approaches. Excited because this has been a very long journey, and dread because I'm nervous about the four-hour surgery. Continue reading

Meditation is great. Quiet contemplation, I've got nothing against it. I do both on a regular basis. But now I would like to make a case for silliness and fun as a sacred practice. You know, dancing around like a little kid not worried about what you look like, making... Continue reading

Sabrina - So sorry that it's taken me this long to get back to you - I got incredibly busy at work and I am just catching up with my blog. It sounds like you are doing really great. I can totally sympathize with feeling awkward about how you look - but I have to say that the more I went out with friends the better I felt. Also, my secret weapon during all of this: BIG hair and lots of eye makeup! Do that and most people won't even notice your teeth! Sending you lots of love - would be great to hear how you're doing now. xo!

Our culture stresses the dangers of laziness, but the flip side, being a workaholic, is just as bad. In fact, it may be worse because there will always be someone who will praise you for being a hard worker, and who doesn't love praise? Continue reading

I recently went to a wellness retreat put on by the FABULOUS Lisa Haupert of Once and Forever Wellness, and I fell head-over-heels in LOVE with the Spelt Blueberry Muffins (with almond and orange zest!!!) made by our chef of the weekend Dava Melton. Dava gave all the retreat goers... Continue reading

Thank you, Rebecca! It's always great to hear from people who have 'been there, done that!' I will be so happy when all this is done :)
Meg, I use my WaterPik at least 3 times a day! Also, mouthwash. I'm sure your teeth aren't as yellow as you think - you are just super aware of your teeth - so am I! I feel like my teeth are yellowing too - so thank you for this comment - it makes me feel better! xo
