You can tell I just heard about work before I took these pictures because I look depressed in all of them ;) Also, none of them are in focus for some reason, which really cuts down on editing time, lol. I saved posting this for when I was working, because... Continue reading

Vintage styles definitely have some great collar details, don't they? I think I used to stay away from them because they used to get lost in my hair, but now that I have a couple of quick updos and go longer in between washes, I can make more :)

I bought this fabric quite a while ago, but with the release of Infinity War, I knew I had to get a dress done! I'm decently happy with it? The top fits a little large, easy to fix though, but definitely wearable as is. I think I picked the perfect... Continue reading

After a wore a dress the other day that I wear fairly often, I've realised that I've never blogged it. I've never taken pictures of it. In fact, there are a bunch, going back years, that I've never taken pictures of! Maybe wearing more vintage more often has made me... Continue reading

Well, it was the day before I wrote this, but today it is 30 degrees colder and raining. I'll hold on to the memories though. And summer means tropical prints! I LOVE tropical prints. I've been hoarding them though, holding out for the perfect projects. I should just sew them... Continue reading

Best way to actually get pictures of something I make is to finish it last minute for a challenge. The challenge ended today and I finished the dress late last night! You can see the original post about this challenge >>Here<< Original dress was from a picture from the late... Continue reading

Xavier (the traveling hairy-eared dwarf lemur) skiing I say part one because at some point in the future I plan on making a jacket to go with these pants. I ran out of time before my recent ski trip and now that it is the 3rd week in March, I'm... Continue reading

Fun times! Who knows if I'll finish in time for the challenge, but I just love the idea all the same. I don't know where my father's pictures are, he probably doesn't either, but I pulled out all the old family photos of my mom's and had a fabulous time... Continue reading

Not nearly as fun as my Star Wars dress, but still, another Christmas dress! There are threads of sparkle in the plaid which makes it more festive too :) I've been working on this one for ages, as usually happens with vintage patterns. I'm glad I started early. After copying,... Continue reading

Really, one of the best things about Christmas are all the festive outfits! After that it is just boring old winter clothes. It's been unseasonably cold this year, so I haven't gotten to wear all the outfits I planned, but whatever. I managed to make two Christmas dresses this year... Continue reading

Woo! I didn't want to wait to post this one because I love it so much. I'll just make everything Disney related and then I'll definitely get around to taking pictures! The Rita Blouse from Gertie's new Charmed Patterns This fabric. I just love it. A gorgeous Beauty and the... Continue reading

w, 3 months since I posted last! Honestly, I just hate taking pictures of myself, which is why I never post things. It hasn't seemed like a busy summer, but I guess it has been a bit. Our new cat, Augustus, died while I was on an away job in... Continue reading

Such laziness in photographing and blogging my recent makes. No real excuses except work and laziness :P I wore this one to go out to lunch on my aunt's b-day, so I grabbed a few pictures before leaving the house! Decades of Style :: Object d'Art This was a fun... Continue reading

Annabel Lee and Bubbles Hello everyone! Well, nothing sewing related to post at the moment. I've finished a few things I need to take photos of, and a few things that are almost finished, but it'll be a while for them. Why? Well, work of course, but then also NEW... Continue reading

Geez, didn't you guys wonder if we were actually going to make it to 2017? What a year. Wow. It's been 5 months since my last post!! I've certainly been sewing since then, but very obviously not taking pictures of anything. Laziness, mostly. Since my last post I've guess I've... Continue reading

Sorry for the delay, I was away on vacation :) Does the dress have a waist seam? If so, I would definitely just sew a thinner elastic straight to the seam, or create a tube from the seam allowance if that is your preference. Unless it is a very stable knit, the tacking method wouldn't work because knit fabric usually have so much drape and you would be able to see where you attached it to the dress. If it is stable, you could use the tacking method with a wider elastic band, and you can still use a hook and eye closure without an opening, or you could zig zag the ends together if the elastic stretches over you enough. Without a waist seam, there isn't much you can do though.

Wow, it's been a while. I'm not sure how many new things I've finished, work has been hectic and I haven't had much time. These pictures are from months ago, the same time as that vintage repro dress. Yikes! I'm lazy at blogging. I don't have a toss pile. I've... Continue reading

Thanks! I sometimes think that I have way too many crazy fabrics in my stash when I generally wear plainer ones, but sometimes, it just works out!

Thank you! And I was wondering if the top was separate! Good to know, and such a great idea, it's like having two dresses!

This dress got moved up in the posting queue because I like how my hair turned out :) Check out those waves! I still need a bit of practice, but it's fun. This is a bit of a mash up, the bodice is a 1920's reproduction gown, and the skirt... Continue reading

Not me! Well, once I finish the outfit, I'll totally take it to the beach. I think I'll do a photo shoot there. I've become obsessed with 20's-30's beach/lounge pyjamas lately. I don't know why, I don't usually do wide leg pants, and I've never even been into 20's styles.... Continue reading

I've been having a great time just sewing and playing for the past few weeks, but the dream must end. I've got some work starting Monday, and hopefully this is the start to a slightly busier season, because while there is no doubt that I prefer to not work (not... Continue reading

Butterick 5281 I've had this one done for a while, but while I was taking pictures of it a few days ago, a little thing that had bothered me while making it bothered me enough for me to rip the thing apart and change it. While making it, I made... Continue reading

Thanks so much!!
Thanks! I could make up outfits in fox designs all day :) I love the look of the Cheyenne, reminds me of some shirts I've been eyeing on modcloth. I have some lightweight wovens that I think would make up great in it. I might put it at the top of my 'to buy' list. Careful with the camas, since it is made for knits. I made it up last year (in a knit, not a woven) and love it! I made the yoke with a woven and, though it works fine, that piece could probably have been cut a little bigger. So definitely go up a few sizes in something totally woven. But I highly recommend that pattern! Super cute
