Glenn,
While I commend your heartfelt writings about Cameroon, I have to disagree with you here. True, France has had a corrupting stranglehold wherever they've been in Africa but surely speaking out against any specific ill in a country cannot possibly hurt, can it? Which stance would you prefer, this Frechman's one of speaking out, or the American Ambassador who has his head so far up Biya's butt that it makes you want to wretch just thinking about it?
French Ambassador Says Heavy Taxes Suffocate Economic Growth
By Chris Mbunwe The French Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E George Serre, has said suffocating Government taxes kill investment, economic growth and encourage tax evasion. French Ambassador:Serre He made the statement during the second International Forum of Multi-Actors Concerted Programme C...
Riccardo,
So you choose to show your face here at long last. Where the hell where you when we had the Minister of Justice of the country banning English from being spoken at a Press Conference he was chairing? The Minister for Justice!!! And nothing has happened to him since despite clamours for his resignation.
This is the country you want Anglophones to live in, do you? Would you live in such a country when the constitution is so blatantly flouted in its use against you, without any consequences whatsoever? The arrogance of some of you Francophones just betrayes exactly how stupid you really are. To think you can keep treating a people like this and exepect them to do nothing? Who the hell do you guys think you are? I expect to hear your condemnation of the Justice Minister, otherwise, please keep your naive an idiotic utterances away from this blog.

My apologies for double-posting. In the first post, I spelt eternity "internity" and tried to correct it, but I don't think this site/blog has editing capabilities, so the damn thing was posted twice. Now let me go hang myself in shame.
Ahmadou Ali Violates Constitution, Bans English At Press Conference
Who Is Supposed To Sanction Him, Biya Or Inoni? The Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals in what is obviously a flagrant violation of the constitution of the country sent shock waves through English-speaking Cameroonians by banning the use of English during his press ...
Watesih and Akoson, to paraphrase Ma Mary, could you please stop your quibling. It's not very instructive, and it's very distracting.
This, for me, is the deal breaker, in terms of continued unification in that troubled and misguided country of ours, if ever there was one. And how clueless of the Post to stick it where they have done -- at the very bottom of the pile!!! Don't these guys know a headline when they see one? Are these true journalists? For the Justice Minister, I mean, the JUSTICE MINISTER (!!!) to have come out with something like this would have spelt instant dismissal anywhere in the Western world. This is truly unbelievable. My big question is, why did the journos present all behave the way they did? Why didn't the Francophones journalists walk out, for starters, against this obvious garbage? Why weren't there protests (and I'm talking, furious protests to the point of completely shouting down that arsehole of a Justice Minister) from the Anglophones?
Even more importantly, where are the likes of Riccardo of CAADIM? Those who insist that we have to be one nation for eternity? With no reaction or protest coming from Francophones (in particular!) how come anybody would want to insist Anglophones stay part of this sick union after all that is going on?
But, man, this coming from the JUSTICE MINISTER????!!!! Oh boy, we (Anglophones) are truly f*cked.
