Sounds like you had a wonderful busy weekend! Glad the weather was cooperative - at least for the photos!
We (your family and friends) should have moved to Australia with you!! I hope things are better next month. :)
Too sweet- more hugs! I hope the next two weeks are filled with good changes. :)

It is interesting that so many words have different pronunciations on the same continent. I wonder if any other language is the same. Does Spanish sound different all around South America? I'd be curious to find out.
Looks like you will be having some fun seeing the language changes when you come back to the US. Especially with the youngest. You may want to inform the kids that #19 may get a few laughs and jokes if they use it in conversation with their classmates. Quite a different meaning in the US. :)
I'm no help! Haven't left anywhere that I can't return to within a days drive. But maybe you can look at each event and outing with friends as 'I'm glad we have one more time to...' I have more of a denial attitude. Left a job I was at for 6 years without telling anyone it was my last day, left a church I was at for 13 years without saying goodbye but then I can run into those people around town randomly so it's totally NOT the same thing. :) but just showing that I'm no help! However, I try to treat the stages of life as you are looking at leaving Australia. As the kids grow, I will no longer be seeing or doing such and such.....whatever it may be. I try to savor it and enjoy it one more time as we move on with life rather than ignore that life does go on. I suspect that your memories will be fantastic and surely painful while they are fresh but life will move on and more memories will be made.
Great pictures and beautiful wildlife sitings. So glad you decided to take that walk!
Awesome sites and captures of them! You have truly gotten all the benefits of leaving the house that you could get in Australia. Hope you have backups and prints so you can look at them and remember for years and years to come. 4 years of photos and you have really captured a fantastic brief summary right here in this pictorial post. Great job!
Feeling for you. :(

One thing I think you never thought of before moving-- loving it there! I may be wrong in assuming your feelings but I wouldn't be a Smith if I didn't say "I was right!" :) I knew it was going to to be an awesome experience from the first mention and feared you would not return home. Of course, experiences can alway seem better/easier to the one who does not have to endure the negatives. So glad we got to follow along with you on your adventure through this blog. It's not over yet! Several more months to go. :)
A struggle I am sure for the year 2014 for each of you but with loving parents and a strong family base your youngest (and other kids) will do well. There are always things about which we worry but who can add an hour to their day by doing that. No matter what our background, family structure, culture or beliefs there will be those that succeed and those that are screwed up-- and books written about both! It was an interesting topic for sure but you are a great Mom and he has a omnipotent God. Be assured that your relocation and upcoming move back will not ruin your children. :)
Happy Birthday Katie!! Hope the Chipper card gets lots of use and the 'Neglected" one gets forgotten. :) Enjoy that broom.

Oh my Christie, I was laughing so hard when I read this!! Both for you and for Cameron! You may have freaked out just a bit?! Maybe? Such a good caring Mom you are to get so upset! I guess maybe I have thought- "I failed it all" too many times myself to take someone else's so literally. What a frustrating afternoon that must have been. On the other hand- if my child has a dead phone- they had better get on someone else's phone and tell me or get their butt home immediately!!!! We take texting/communicating when out of the house seriously here - read it and answer appropriately and promptly or you don't go out for a LONG time! (Ok- maybe a week) Oh the trials one must live through now that will bring back so many wonderful memories when retold years from now!

Google says Perth! I cheated. Have a great time. From listening to Linda's stories I'll just say- watch out for snakes!!! So are you taking the train over? Just kidding. Ever since I read the book about Australia I thought it would be so cool to take that train ride the author (was that Bryson?) took to Perth. Enjoy.

It was so nice that you were able to come home for awhile! You always manage to accomplish so many visits to both people and places. I hope the memories last for a very long time. Beautiful shot of the house with the rainbow overhead- all is well. :)

I'll bet James was excited to see his friends again. Hope you are all back to the routine quickly. It was very good to get a chance to see you while you were here.

I laughed at Sophie's cake catastophe (it's a good thing she only wanted ice cream) was jealous of Ross's 2 cakes both looking equally fabulous and was so happy when you found a recipe to bring back memories of your Grandma's pancakes. March is full of birthdays in our family as well - interesting! Enjoy your Easter holiday
Sounds like they were having a wonderful time! Looks like you got their trip off to a great start!

Looks beautiful! Glad you made the extra trip, James will not remember his suffering (well maybe not) but you'll remember the times with your parents. The photos give you plenty of fuel for fire when he's dating- or has kids of his own!
Looks like lots of fun!! Did they make the cakes themselves? They are beautiful. Glad she gets some birthdays in the sun and shorts weather. If she ever moves back to the Northern Hemisphere she will have great memories from those warm birthday parties!
