I like yours better, too!
Almost All Saints
I fell in love with this top at London's All Saints shop in Spitalfieds. But quickly fell out of love when I saw the hefty price tag. So I gathered together a few old T-shirts and a cardigan or two and made my own version. Pretty pleased with it - it has a nice drapey quality For more informat...
My First T-shirt Refashion
I used to read palms for a living so my hubby bought this T-shirt for me at a comics convention. It was supposed to be a mens' large, but it was kind of small to begin with, and shrank the... Continue reading

I agree with Ruth. Your refashion is adorable!
holey moley liz
I bought this boxy Liz Claiborne sweater new with tags at a yard sale, only to bring it home to find several holes. AACK! So... I cut the neck and band ribbing and sleeves from a too tight seater and added it onto liz. I also stitched up the sides for a more form fitting top.
Wow! I am impressed! I love the vintage feel of your bathers and your photo.
polka-dot bathers
So, I've upgraded my pledge to "life" after a bit of humming and hrr-ing. Phew! But I've always sewn for myself, and I've managed not to shop in the last year and don't miss it at all. In fact now I'm too fussy about new clothes in the shop, that they have some thing or another that I want to...
UFO Carpet Bag
I started this carpet bag 4 years ago, but, like many of my projects, put it aside when I came to a step I wanted to do differently from the instructions. As part of my pledge I promised I would... Continue reading

little booties
Hi! It's Vic! So, I was looking for flat booties. My mom knew this. So, when she went to a friend's, and I don't know exactly how this came about, she bought a rarely-used pair of knee-high slouch boots for $5. Now, I don't have anything against slouch boots, but these made my legs look huge...
Very nice bag. You have a right to be proud.
Big Honkin' Yoga Bag
No refashions this week, but I did make a bag to pack all of my yoga stuff: It holds: my mat two towels water bottle coconut water a change of clothes hair product, moisturizer and a comb A BIG, HONKIN' bag! I'm proud of this because I designed it myself. Miss Prickly
Very cute! I wouldn't have been able to resist that print myself.
Lucky Brand Top Resize Refashion
I puchased this top in an op shop in St Kilda on AFL Grand Final Day. I couldnt resist that pretty bird printed fabric: But look at the size of it on me! I am a petite size 8, and this top is a size L, so it looked rather like a tent: I cut to size using an existing top of mine, and added...
You did a beautiful job on those pintucks. They are a nice touch.
Chambray Shirtdress to Pintucked Camp Shirt
Twenty years, a career shift and more-pounds-than-I-care-to-admit later, this chambray shirtdress sat lonely at the back of my closet. Even if I did manage to lose enough weight to fit that little waist, the style isn’t professional enough for delivering presentations or practical for farm li...

That's ingenious! And really cute!
Fringed Scarf to Tunic Top
I made this tunic blouse from a large handwoven silk scarf that I found at a thrift store. It was a very quick and easy project because the finished edges and hem of the scarf minimize the need for finish sewing. It's basically just two side seams and finishing the neck opening. See ...
P.S. Just visited your blog. So inspiring. I'm also trying to grow old disgracefully - in a town where that is decidedly frowned upon, which makes it even more delicious for me. Thanks for leading the charge!
Just a bit of a snip!
I bought this 1970s silver mesh dress a few years ago and I've never worn it. No guesses why. So I decided all it needed was about 30cm taken off the bottom and a bit of restylin' Details and pix at Pull Your Socks Up!
Fabulous! I love it!

They look very good on you. I especially like the cut of the pocket.
Vintage style pants
I have had this vintage pants pattern for a couple years and always wanted to make them, so when I found some brown corduroy at the thrift store, I knew it was time. I'm so prone to suggestion that I always imagined them in brown, just like the illustration. I was a bit surprised when I put on t...
Hi! The pattern is Vogue 2980 which is out of print. I don't know how easy it is to get from eBay or Etsy or the like. Besides the sleeves, there are 3 pieces - a front, a back and the collar/bolero piece. I've put a picture of what the pattern pieces look like on my Flickr site here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/patternologie/5010187067/
Piece # 3 is the front with a wide facing that folds down and forms a sort of self-lining. Piece 1 is one half of the collar. It has a center back seam (on the right). It folds in half lengthwise and has three tucks on each end. It attaches at the center to the back (piece 2), and then the rest folds around the front to make the upper part of the front armholes. The tucked part of the collar attaches to the front at the side seam.
I hope that isn't too confusing.
Finishing the last of my summer sewing
I have so many unfinished projects, I'm trying hard not to create new ones. So even though the weather is now decidedly autumn-like, I decided to finish this T-shirt before jumping into my fall sewing. It's Vogue 2980. I'm pretty new to sewing with knits and I'm happy with how it turned out. Eve...

Wedding Head Piece Complete...
A couple of week ago I showed you the mock up on WR of Rebekah's wedding headpiece. Well after practicing the art of manipulating her scraps of material I have finally finished it. I am so pleased with results that I am going to make some more to sell in my shop... You can see more photo's on my...
Harem Pants (or maybe, harem scarem pants)
Over the weekend I finished this pair of rayon challis zouave pants. These pants are sometimes called harem pants or hammer pants, after the singer MC. Hammer, who became known for wearing them in a music video. A lot of... Continue reading

Wow! Thanks for that info, Irene. I suspected from the beautiful hand that it was something special. Now I know.
Sweater Fix
I got this sweater years ago at Goodwill for $6.99. I found it in the women's section, but I think it's actually a man's sweater. The sleeves are very, very long and I have to roll them up. The label reads "Ermenegildo Zegna" and 100% wool in 6 languages. It's yummy soft. When I bought it, the ...
Fantastic coat! I would not have been able to cut it up either.
Echino Find
I had every intention of refashioning this Echino coat that I found at a thrift store into a new bag: But I don't think I can cut it up! Is this a great coat or what? It was $8.00US....super score! Miss Prickly

Good for you!! Like you, this pledge is inspiring me to do the repairs that have been sitting around undone for a long time.
Finally fixed!
So I've had a pair of shoes kicking around my closet that I bought last year. I was tickled when I got them, wore them once or twice, and then the elastic in the back came apart and I thought that was it. Only, I couldn't bring myself to throw them out. It didn't really occur to me to try and fi...
Wow, that's really cute!
Men's Shirt to Women's Skirt
Check out my blog for details, a sad discovery about my "physique" & easy how-to.
This looks great! I'm a big fan of dyeing things to make them more like what I want. I think the contrast thread is perfect.
Bright Orange to Brown Summer Top
This is my first refashion post and I decided to feature the last of my summer refashion projects. It's still hot here in Texas and I'm often needing a comfy sleeveless top for day. Inspired by a friend's recent outfit, I decided I wanted to create a casual smocked top. I picked up this brigh...
