The job is going very well and I am enjoying it so much! I have been pleasantly surprised with how much I am enjoying the retail world. I appreciate your encouragement to me, too! Thanks so much!! I keep planning on getting back to my blog but I've not made it yet. Hopefully soon! Paula

Hello, all! Just in case you have been wondering about me, I'm still alive! I've taken on a new part-time job at our local family-owned Christian bookstore working about 12-13 hours per week. It's a very new experience for me working retail and I have really been surprised at how much I like it. My experience has always been as a secretary sitting at a computer, so I didn't know how well I would like being on my feet and mingling with people. The job entails working the whole store - cash register, stocking, answering phones, answering questions, placing special... Continue reading

Christine, I don't really know if there is a relation to the seasons or weather. My mom really notices a difference in her headaches when the barometer changes. The majority of mine do seem to come in a "cycle", so I'm pretty sure it's mostly hormonal. But since the old body is changing these days, I don't have any idea what to expect. I just hope it moves along and gets over with quickly. :o)
Did you miss Tuesday Tastiness last week? I have been battling a headache for a week now and am finally beginning to feel better. I used to have headaches on a regular basis and am so thankful that I don't suffer with them as I used to. This week has reminded me of that! It is very unusual for me to keep one for several days since I have changed our family's eating habits and I can't really put my finger on the reason for this one except that it might be hormonal. I'm at "that age", you know. But... Continue reading

I will do my best not to inundate my blog with this exciting news every time, but I just earned another $5 amazon gift card - less than a month after I snagged two others and wrote about it here. Exciting!! If you sign up for a swagbucks account of your very own, be sure and get it via my swagbucks button on the upper right-hand portion of my sidebar. If you do, I can earn every time you do up to 100 points! Continue reading

The line I have typed below from this song reminds me of Psalm 77:7-14. When I wonder where God is (we all do it sometimes, don't we?), I just remember...He's done it before. He'll do it again. Psalm 77:7-14 - "Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable? Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion? Then I said, 'I will appeal to this, to the years of the right hand of the Most High'. I will... Continue reading

I am so excited that, beginning today, our church's sermons are now being recorded via streaming video through UStream. I had to miss the service today because I was in the nursery watching the children and was able to watch it on my computer after I got home. How exciting! As promised, today I will post my recipe for the delicious gravy I make with last week's recipe for beef sausage. I love to make homemade gravy. For a long, long time I bought the package of white gravy mix and added water. I decided it had too many ingredients that I didn't want going into our bodies, so I quit making gravy at all. Then I discovered that you can make delicious gravy with real, whole foods. And we are eating it again! This is a very basic recipe that many whole foodies use as a base for all... Continue reading

Thanks for the encouragement, Christine. I'll keep it going a little longer and we'll see. I'm much braver than I used to be with the technological stuff, but still have a long ways to go. One thing I don't know anything about is HTML. It's on my list of things to learn someday. lol I really do appreciate your encouragement on my blog! :o)

Welcome to this week's A Good Laugh Friday! For information on what it's all about, look here. I am still on the fence about how to continue this weekly update. It doesn't seem to be catching on. lol. For now, I will post a video my daughter, Rachel, took of my son, Colin, groovin' to some I-can't-believe-it's-actually-called-music. It made me laugh! Forgive the bad quality. Our camera is apparently the low-tech version. Untitled from Paula Brazzell on Vimeo. Continue reading

Have you heard about Swagbucks?? According to their website: allows web users to earn virtual currency by doing the things they do every day - search the web, shopping at their favorite retailers, and by engaging in other activities such as phone recycling, submitting polls, and completing special offers. I joined Swagbucks a few months ago and mainly use it as my search engine. And I love it! I have earned enough points to redeem my first two $5 amazon gift cards and made this purchase just this week without spending a dime. Gotta love that. :o) (Expert Photography... Continue reading

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today, Christy! I am so happy you enjoyed this recipe. :o)
Welcome to this week's Tuesday Tastiness! I'm so glad you have joined me once again! Today I thought I would let you know how I make beef sausage. If you have ever read the ingredients on a package of sausage, you know all the undesirable fillers that are there! The packages of the healthier versions are usually cost-prohibitive. So I love this idea! I found the recipe on and follow it fairly closely to the original recipe posted (except I use beef instead of ground turkey and adjust the ingredients that give it heat). Homemade Beef Sausage 2 pounds... Continue reading

Music is truly one of the greatest gifts God has given to mankind. Its beauty can reach down into your very soul and speak volumes more than simply spoken words. I hear God's still small voice speaking to me through the words of music more than at any other time. I praise Him for creating music! Hello all! It's good to be back for A Good Laugh Friday! If you don't know what A Good Laugh Friday is, read about it here. I am excited about this weekly update and hope that it will become a time of reflection for both you and me as we review our week and remember our happy moments - whether they were many (what a blessing!) or few (He's still faithful!). As I have thought more about this, my vision for this weekly exchange has evolved just a bit. I want to bless and be blessed by others who have... Continue reading

This is my adaptation of a recipe a friend of mine gave me when she was on the Daniel Fast at the beginning of this year. I am not sure if this recipe is on a Daniel Fast website or not, but I think it is. The reason it is a Daniel Fast recipe is that it has no added sugar (only sugar from the fruits) and uses dairy-free margarine or butter. Of course, you know I will only suggest real butter. :o) I thought it would be a great recipe to share this week since I gave my recipe... Continue reading
