Sapwi Trails Community Park I had a different trail in mind for this morning, but a sick kid derailed my plans, so I headed to a trail close to home. I tend to avoid Sapwi Trails because I don't like neighborhood trails. I prefer trails that lead back into the... Continue reading

Hillcrest Open Space Preserve This hike was one that I had scoped out on a previous hike. It was just under three miles, including the short trek to where I had to park. I was fine with a shorter hike because for once I read the trail description first and... Continue reading

Wildwood Park My oldest child has been asking to go on the Paradise Falls hike for ages, and the time was finally right. I guess my weekend hikes have been on less popular trails because I have never seen so many people while hiking. Wildwood is popular in general, this... Continue reading

Conejo Ridge Open Space and Skyline Open Space Today's hike was a bit of misadventure in map reading. I usually print out the paper maps from the COSCA site. I already had this map printed out from a previous hike I did in the Los Robles Open Space, so I... Continue reading

52 Hike Challenge Last year, or maybe the year before, I took up hiking. Once someone told me that hiking is just walking, it seemed much more like something I could do. I live nearby to many COSCA trails, so one day I parked by a trail head and started... Continue reading

I am a brilliant social media writer. I don't eat after 9 PM. I look great without make-up. I'm not getting old. Continue reading

A couple years ago, I took down all of my blogs. I worked for a conservative company, I was concerned about my professional appearance, and I followed bad advice. (I broke up with that guy.) I miss my blogs. I miss the outlet. I don't write enough now. So, I... Continue reading

Clearly, I would not be friends with people who are not awesome, so I am mystified by one friend's low self-esteem. I told her that, if I could, I would gladly give her some of my self-esteem because sometimes I... Continue reading

I have friends now who have never seen me at my heaviest, or even close to it. They don't know me as a formerly very fat person, only as I am right now. For the people who have known me... Continue reading

Did you see these pants I bought at Kohl's? So similar! They are also super tight in my thighs, but I pretend like the pattern creates an optical illusion that hides it.

We haven't had cable or network television for years now. I can't even remember the last time we did. We watch most things through Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Instant Video. Surprisingly, we buy very few DVDs, but when we... Continue reading

My husband used to travel a lot for work. Anything that was going to go wrong with our house happened when he was out of town. Then it stopped happening. Maybe my good karma reserve filled back up? I prayed... Continue reading

Great words. You know I don't have a problem with Speak! I love Essential. That wasn't one of my words for last year, but it was definitely an underlying theme - for this year, too. I am so busy that I don't have time to spend on things that don't directly relate to my goals. This blog for instance. Posts here are going to be so rare in 2013 Best of luck, and I'll help you in any way I can!

2012 Last Year, instead of resolutions, I had two themes, and I called it the Year of Good Health and Money. There were quite a few goals to accomplish in those areas, but my main focus for the year was... Continue reading

At the beginning of the year, I didn't make any resolutions, but I declared 2012 to be the Year of Good Health and Money. Sounds exciting, right? I wouldn't go that far, but it has been rewarding. The update you... Continue reading

I hate when a woman is called "ballsy" or someone says she has balls, as if the only way a woman can be confident, or assertive, or aggressive, or a badass, is to emulate a man. I don't think so. Continue reading

"I don't know why everyone thinks I am so creepy. I'm not creepy am I? I just don't see it. Hair? Shiny and thick. Skin? Flawless. Legs? Pretty great. Rockin' boots, sweet vintage denim vest, awesome upcycled necklace. Screw them. I look fricking hot." Photo courtesy of Margaux Lange, who... Continue reading
