Geneen Roth's book, "Women, Food, and God", is one of the best books I've read on obsession/compulsive behavior - and ultimately, addiction. Give it a look.

I caught your interview with Gayle King, Kristina. It was great. You're a natural. Was your mother on that show with you? I can't remember. I also heard you interviewed with your mom about your book, "The Lost Years". My daughter has now been in recovery for almost 11 months. She's working full time at Safe Harbor. I hope to visit her to celebrate her one year 'anniversary'. Thanks for all your help. Peggy

Kristina - thank you for so courageously sharing your own vulnerability. Your skills as a professional interventionist are so outstanding - your passionate commitment to recovery and helping others are so strong - that I'm sure no one would guess that you still struggle with issues of fear and self-confidence. This is exactly why you are so good at what you do - - - and what gives you such enormous credibility. You have walked in the addict's shoes and know the road well; and now, as a recovering addict, your journey to healing gives us all important insight, as well as courage and hope. My 31 year old daughter was a heroin addict and has now been sober for 9 months. It's a bloody miracle, yet I'm still so afraid she'll relapse. It helps to get inside your head and learn more about addiction and recovery. I hope that other parents of heroin addicts can find some comfort, compassion, and hope at my blog, Helplessly Hoping . . . Peggy
