Your Fridays, and many other days too I'm sure, must fill you with so many memories and wisdoms shared with your amazing mother.
Mothering
Well I never! Black beans are a favourite 'eatable' at my table. Might have to stop eating and start colouring.
Black beans direct
Just black beans on linen gauze. wrapped between two layers of cloth on a tin can. Copper pot with an old sludge of onion skins and oak twigs. I was thinking if I had less soaking water and more beans I would get a darker blue when it dawned on me what if I just used the beans directly o...
"Doing more with less" love that concept....and the quote too.
why and what
"The vessels containing the light of the world, the wholeness of the world, broke. And the wholeness of the world, the light of the world was scattered into a thousand thousand fragments of light and they fell into all events and all people, where they remain deeply hidden until this very day......
Don't dare interrupt them!
dinner in motion
I know you didn't want comments, but I just wanted to record that I was here and to let you know how your musings always touch my soul.
Oh, and I agree with Marti!
Day 17 Just thoughts and if i knew how to disable comments i would for this one.
so...no need to Reply. When i first started this blog thing, it was to record my work with Learning Cloth Making with Jude. What happened with that? well...i guess that the cloth making is Part of my Experience and the rest is everything that is not cloth making...like what i do in my days. To ...
What a treat to see a garden coming to life! Winter clings on up here.
Love your work on a "when I grow up" theme and describing the cloth as growing up too!
50% chance of rain means 50% chance of sun...
And we sure did get sunshine! I went out to the garden at 10 AM and completely lost track of time... Garden projects: I am trying artichokes one more time. Many years ago my father built me a cold frame with a reclaimed sun window. The wood finally rotted out to the point it wasn't usable...
Looking is not as easy as it sounds isn't it, Grace! I think the trick is to remember to look with fresh eyes. And I can just feel the breeze bringing life to your flag!
looking
But I love blackberries!
mending the fence
"Before I built a wall I'd ask to know what I was walling in or walling out, and to whom I was like to give offense. Something there is that doesn't love a wall." from "Mending Wall" by Robert Frost This is my back fence. The section that I have repaired more than once due to a neighbor ...
And working small is quite a different challenge isn't it.
does the Sun need to be round?
this is why i so much don't like leaving for work...i am on a roll here. i had the feeling that making these "small cloths" would have important things to teach me and it seems to be so....
Always love the backs.
Envy you the freedom!
Confusion and Longing
This is the back the other side of Magic Cloth 2. It has been hanging on the wall for a while. But I just turned it over. What is interesting about this cloth is that I have worked on it from both sides. And in that way, it has a new quality. Some sort of evidence of the conscio...
Dropping by here is always a visit full of treasures. Looking forward to a new Treasure Hunt.
What is What If?
I just want to talk about it, this thing I now call What If Diaries(?). It is not a class, it is more like a resource. It is a lot of things. Scraps of self. There are steps to be taken to have this Happen. Layers. But firstly, I will be reopening my What If (?) blog, under a n...
A slow return to a power filled life. I hope everyone has warmth when that big cold descends.
Gosh I love your work....You amaze me.
Two cloths and then some...
They were so different. Both from 101. But hanging there today, so much part of something. The same something. Like night and day. Repair to wires will happen here for a couple of days. As temporary patches are replaced with permanent fixes. For now. Internet will be up and down...
Wow, eleven trees.
Is it not self preservation to distance oneself? But despite your feeling the cloth is you.
I am imagining you as a whirling mass of scraps and they will eventually settle down again.
So...
So, yes, there are still trees. This morning's fog filled in some of the empty spaces. Making it seem more familiar. We lost 11 total. There will be more light, which means more garden space and lots of wood, for the next storm which will surely come. Most of the trees fell in t...
Me too....I used to get bitten by our tomcat who would bite my leg as I stood in the kitchen preparing his dinner! It really hurt!
Your spirit communicates and touches so many of us. From Grace's comment I guess you are starting a new diaries workshop and that it is focusing on more spontaneous stitching. Funny that...exactly what I've been focusing on this year!
Good luck with the new session and with the new season as well.
Into a new season
The amount of rain and warm temperature here is bizarre. In terms of what we know as climate. 5" of rain water pooled outside my front door. And rising. The wet has highlighted the sudden overnight arrival of Change. Here it comes. Maybe it was the wet, the red, the drip... So...
I'm trying to just go with the flow of life. Oh, and trying to be inquisitive that that little honey of a goat.
How the Potential for Everything is EVERPRESENT subtitle: even with Hillary Clinton
this is the first time i have had the urge to write the post ahead of posting and re-view my words, edit, then post. but i don't really have time in this life for that. so...it will fall out of my mind as it comes. not knowing anything a beetle peeks up through the slat and she suddenly...
Yummy raspberries...my favourites! Hope the birds find food elsewhere.
summer finally came
Picking (and pitting!) sour cherries to make preserves and to dry. Picking and eating berries... And then a nap. Listening to the birds... Two little birds...
Wow...your little scraps make beautiful yarns! Great idea..now I wish I could spin!
recycle day: a bit of this and that
I collect these...little scraps of fabric, two or three inch pieces of yarn, a thread or two or more, a tiny bit of roving. I love the yarn that can be made with it... Cut up into little pieces, laid on top of some roving, carded and then spun into yarn. And then knit. Kaite has suggested...
From all these responses...they obviously fly through the air with the greatest of ease!

What if stones could fly?
Connected beauty.
Life and death on Saturday
It is just wonderful to witness both life and death. A priviledge. Beauty lies there. In between. We need this. To make sense of things. Sadness is momentary confusion. Wait. Face it. Understand.
Gotta love those stones.
A rainbow in bits and pieces...well I never.
In pieces
It rained while the sun was out. For a long time. The rainbow was in pieces, perhaps patiently waiting to be put back together. Like these... Thank you Pat, Helen, LibbyQ, and Marianna... 306! (Read about the magic feather project here.)
Oh me, oh my, that was quite a week. The joys of motherhood.
i really don't know what to say
it has been Some Week. and i hesitate to put it all here because this blog is about Cloth, or, is supposed to be. but ..... Cloth turns out to be Life?, it seems................... and this is Life too. Jude's Contemporary boro 2....SO much. aside from the denim jumpers, asi...
Oh, so beautiful...the colours...the stitching...the story.
reassurance
all along with this mending for goats, there has been a strong sense of the cloth work Continuing in some silent subliminal way. and this morning, YES! suddenly i put together 3 pieces of floss, brown, red, orange to get the right color of blood and YES!, knew to stitch across the light...
Oooh, now that is a cloth with a story to tell.
Expanded Vision expanding
Continued from here... I have begun to move outward, and to distort the frame in sympathy with the original ring of vision. With dreams of expanding the cloth to cloth idea. This could go on forever. But of course I will never have time. But then again I can imagine it. So there you ...
Mouthwatering! Both breakfast and beautiful sky scarf.
come for tea?
You could have a bite of yogurt cake with rhubarb sauce: It's the first stem of rhubarb this year (from the garden) plus a few frozen strawberries to make it red. We could tour the garden. I had to try another batch of lettuce in egg shells as the first batch didn't work so well... I'll sh...
