Kelly,
I've never tried them. When my MIL taught me how to make them, she told me they wouldn't work well...so I never paid to find out :). I've always used ONLY those rubber ones :).

Lib,
As I've said, this is one that's been simmering for years. When it was finally time to write it, I did so quickly. Funny, because I've started it before and couldn't move it forward. I was too negative. FINALLY, this story found a way to be told POSITIVELY. At least I hope that's how it's viewed. :)
Rock of Ages :: Room for Hope
For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7b i. I remember the night my father died. I was sitting alone in our playroom, mindlessly watching tv while the rest of my house was asleep. My phone buzzed later than...
Good--that means I have company! :)
Noah Goes to Hollywood
I guess I've been living under a rock, but I've totally missed the news that an epic production of the story of Noah and the Ark was being filmed, directed by Darren Aronofsky and starrring Hollywood A-listers Russell Crowe, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson. The trailer l...

26, Opposites and Marriage
He asked me two months ago if I minded if he went; it would mean we wouldn't spend our anniversary together. It didn't matter to me in the least; I'm married to him not a day, and I knew we'd celebrate sometime close enough for it to count. For him to realize the significance of the date that...
Lyli,
Thanks, friend :). There sure are a LOT of daily lessons....but that adds up to LIFE, right? It makes me so happy to know this encourages you. Really, truly, I wrote it with strong encouragement in mind :).

Sidnie,
I've wanted to write this for 5 1/2 years. It felt *right* right now (thank you for continuing to read).

Oh, dear. I haz no plants right now! I'm living in an apartment temporarily, and have NOTHING to write about :(.
And I think it's brilliant planting your Christmas cactus in a breakable pot; THAT would be FUN when it's time (says the girl who loves to break glass bottles when I go to the recyling center :) ).
THANK YOU for tagging me...this brings back memories of such wonderful people :).
Fun Monday aka: Mon Funday in My Lysdexic Brain
It has been about 24 months of Sundays since I typed that title for a post! A long, long time ago in the land of globbers, there was a group who posted on Mondays following a theme suggested by the host/hostess. Then, Facebook came along and/or we all became busy with other things and our blo...
Oh, dear. So, yeah. I'm dyin' just a little. OF ALL THE SPEAKERS TO READ THIS, IT HAD TO BE YOU!!
But...but...it also felt important to admit that out loud. How our unspoken prejudices can hurt us. How pride seeps in. How stupid we can be for the most ridiculous of reasons.
Bianca, your words linger. I don't think it's because they're YOU'RE words, but a message my heart and soul needed to hear. Thank you for your obedience to serve, for your zeal for Christ, for your grace to people like me. And to those not like me.
I'm especially fond of you.

A collection of links I love, sites I like, interesting reads or cool happenings nearby. It's been y e a r s since I've attended a blog conference - that whole Germany-for-a-year thing and Life-does-its-thing thing - and I've never attended a Christian blog conference. Never wanted to. I'm ...

Betsy,
Your comment is precious to me; thank you for taking time to share your response. It delights me to know all these years of living this road will speak to others; not for my glory but for Christ's sake. :)
Peanut Butter and Machiavelli
I made them do it under the guise of "cultivating independence." I believed it, too. Children grow up so slow and so fast at the same time; it's the paradox of childhood. Maybe, also, the paradox of motherhood. Parenting. They're learninglearninglearning, guzzling water from a fire hydr...
