Hello friends, I am approaching week 34, so there is not that much longer before the new little one arrives! Already he is showing impatience to be born and I waddle around with my belly low to the ground like a duck and lecture him on the importance of growing... Continue reading

Our month of birthdays is finally over. I am grateful for each of the people we honored on their special day- for their smiles, exuberant energy and creative spirits. In what seemed like a whirlwind of days, we set aside time for each. Making memories, giving gifts, and offering our... Continue reading

The past few months were just supposed to be a short break. One week off stretched into two.. I discovered I was pregnant. We took a trip to Europe, just Chris and I, and it was lovely- even with all that morning sickness. A fire tore through our mountains and... Continue reading

If you're using Benjamin Moore's new Natura line, it will come out about two shades lighter than the swatch. I learned this the hard way, so well anyway, it may not be your fault. :) Either way.. I think that color looks just right!!!

Yesterday I killed my cat. It wasn't on purpose, Jasper was lying in the shade under our car in the hot afternoon and I was on my way to the grocery store. The sound of his skull popping under the tires will always be in my memory. He flew out... Continue reading

It started churning in my head early Mother's Day morning. This thought took over every part of my mind as children brought me handmade cards and kisses. Chubby arms wrapping around my neck with fingers pressed into my hair. What keeps childhood alive? We went on a family walk that... Continue reading

Well said, Rachel. It is difficult to avoid one extreme or the other. But hopefully as Christians we can find that middle ground.
Kristy, I was actually thinking about this while preparing to post. They say that men are attracted by what they see while women are attracted by what they hear. It would be interesting to hear a sermon about 'lies men speak' or, encouragement to men not to mislead or tempt women through the things they say and do.
He posted it to his Facebook wall for the benefit of his female friends late one night. Because they needed to hear a guy's perspective. The link was hard for me to miss. A sound clip blown up movie style with the black and white photo of a meditative man... Continue reading

What an apt expression of the opportunity for love that is lost when an enemy dies. Nothing is gained. Plenty of other enemies still abound. And perhaps by showcasing our strength we have really weakened our selves.

Last night snow fell softly upon the trees and grass, covering the fragile new plants which had sprung up under early springtime sun with downy white. We nestled up warm within the house. Children were read stories and tucked into bed. Tea was made. Covers pulled soft and cozy upon... Continue reading

Hello friends, Thank you for being patient during this un-expected break from blogging over the past week. I have been caught in a struggle- finding it hard to balance life and the way I think it should be. At times like these I don't believe that I have anything worthwhile... Continue reading

This week I have felt a little more inspired to get out of those pj's than normal. We did a couple fun things as a family, including going down to Albuquerque for the New Mexico Chocolate and Coffee Fest. It was great fun but poor little Gypsy ate so much... Continue reading

Feet bury themselves into the dirt. Feeling it mound up warm and soft between my toes. My fingers find their way among the weeds. Pulling up errant plants that have already sprung strong and determined among our strawberry plants. The girls help, wandering here and there. Rearranging rocks, putting weeds... Continue reading

Hello friends, today I am linking up to The Pleated Poppy with a weekly outfit post. Chris took the pictures and liked the way it looked all 'country' in the background, and although I'm not so sure about that, I do hope you enjoy clicking over and getting some more... Continue reading

Heather I hear ya! It can be difficult to figure out that perfect balance for family. We have gluten sensitivities, two vegetarians and one serious carnivore in our family. Building well-rounded meals with that mix can be tough! Atmosphere does plays a meaningful part in how meals are enjoyed. Ambient light, gentle music and a pretty table are things that can be enjoyed by even the little youngsters.
One of the most important decisions that Chris and I have made for our family is adopting the "slow food" approach to meals. Slow food (as opposed to fast food!) is all about appreciating the process that goes into putting together good food for our bodies every day. Planning ahead... Continue reading
