Trying to figure out what triggered this (not that posting Pound requires any justification)...

I'd like to read it. I only vaguely enjoyed HANNAH... [and really just for Gerwig's perfomance (i.e. she was totally naked in several scenes)] and have found everything else I've read about JSwan to make my skin crawl. Those artporns he made for IFC were loooood-a-criss. So put me down as an emphatic "yea."

The elephant in the room here is EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP, which I finally caught up with last night. The first half or so is perfect but I found the farcical element near the end a little too cheeky/obvious. Thoughts?

Great film, almost proto-Malick. I'd love to see the Blu as it's always been a scratchy/murky affair in available prints. Good too see MUBI highlighting Kazan's WILD RIVER (another poetic exploration of a dying way of life)in the article above yours.

So do the octopoid monsters actually come back and perform "Give Peace a Chance"? Cuz that I'd watch, preachy or no. Too bad. I had high hopes for this.

Years from now we'll all look back on this post as the genesis of the Murdercore subgenre. Can't wait to Justin Rice as an insecure, aimless serial killer in Bujalski's BORED TO DEATH.
At least God protected you from having to watch Chloe. Glad you're back. Great pic, by the way.
Re: Hitch's compulsive atheism - there's an interesting (if poorly executed) documentary (called COLLISION) chronicling his tour of the college circuit with a Christian apologist (Douglas Wilson). I've always been a fan of Hitchens's marching to an idiosyncratic ideological drum. The doc reveals, however, that the drum seems to be beating him these days. He looks so TIRED.

Too bad. Now I have a reason to return to watching my Twitter feed again.

Chalk another vote for Rohmer/Nabokov.

@ forager23 I'd post my own provisional top ten but that seems rude. I guess I'd ditch CONTROL (for reasons above) and replace it with LOCKER (because it's the most poetic "pure genre" piece I've seen since COLLATERAL). Not sure where HEADLESS would go (maybe in LORNA'S spot, though I loved that thing, too). You?
Great list! Lots to love (SUMMER HOURS is my #1 unless I see something better in the next coupla weeks, lots of catching up to do). Usual inquisition/nitpic follows: Is HEADLESS WOMAN considered this year? If so, why isn't it one of the sixteen? And what about HURT LOCKER? I'm a die-hard Jarmusch fan and damned if I couldn't like anything about LIMITS other than the flamenco scene and Doyle's beautiful photography. Too masturbatory and (intentionally, I'll grant you) solipsistic for my tastes.
