@Deanoutlette posted this article to twitter (Thanks Dean!) as a follow up to this article. It is about Google Labs Project to use Google Gears to create a desktop version of GMail. http://lifehacker.com/5140668/gmail-goes-offline-with-google-gears

Hey Dean, Thanks for your comment! Mostly I'd call it a crutch, BUT there are a couple of reasons. BIGGIE - Merge to Email function - huge time saver for me. I merge my CE hours certificates right to email. BIGGIE - Contact Management. Gmails contact manager is no good. I have yet to find one as good as Outlook. Especially for syncing to stuff. Not so BIGGIE - I like my pic in my email signature. Call me vain, but I appreciate it when someone puts their pic in theirs so I recognize them when I see them.

Hey... I've noticed that in the next generation platform, there is no way to change a simple template to an advanced template. Is this just an intermediate problem or is this a final change. That is a powerful feature that should not be removed. Without it, it makes the system much less powerful. Rob

Thanks Nick... They do have a pretty good spam filter. The trouble I have found is that their servers seem to get blocked by certain Email providers (Yahoo in particular). The only thing I ever got out of them when I complained was the "we're working on it" mantra. Call me anytime... Rob

You are correct...the different calendars can be identified by colors, but appointments in a particular calendar can't be identified by a separate color...Outlook 2007 can do that for you.

Yeah...I agree...it spell checks automatically, but the thing I miss is the Autofill and the Page Rank features... Rob
