Sunday Gratitude-The Smile
Today would have been my Dad's Birthday. I could feel it coming, not because I could see the date on a calendar, but because I believe I can feel him around me. We shared a Birthday month, which means we shared a Birth Sign also. We shared similar personalities which would be considered "fr...

Tempura Recipe (Lobster, Onion Rings)
Beer Batter 2 1/2 C flour 1 1/2 C Corn Starch 2 tsp garlic powder 2 tsp onion powder approx 1/2 tsp white pepper or cayenne for a "hotter" bite 1 egg approx 2 - 4 tsp salt (to taste) 12 - 36 oz beer. Start with 12 - 24 depending on the consistency that you want. (I used 36 oz). Thinner batter is like a tempura. With 36 oz beer I achieved a good consistency and it coated nicely. It was great on the Lobster AND the Onion rings! I think it would be amazing on a variety of... Continue reading

Quick Valentine Guest Cards
This is a super quick and easy way to show your guests you are thinking about them by putting these cute and simple little cards at their place setting, or if you are serving buffet style, put them in a cute little basket as a favor. I took a kraft colored butcher tag, (LOVE these tags!) took my HS heart mask and placed the 3 hearts in a random pattern on the tag. I simply sprayed a quick layer of Shimmerz Vibez in "Razzle Dazzle Berry" right on top. It dried quickly and sparkled A LOT! I stamped a quick... Continue reading

1st Embroidery Project
I completed my first embroidery project, and it didn't take more than but a few hours! I have wanted to do it for a while but I was pretty nervous and now I don't know why because I LOVED it! I wish the color in the picture was better because the ribbon and wording is actually chocolate brown to match the fabrics.I started with a chipboard cut-out of a bird, where the wing and heart popped out separate from each other. I knew when I picked it up in Arizona that I wanted to save it and use it with... Continue reading

"VALENINE"
Believe it or not, I actually do know how to spell Valentine! Really, I do. It's not a misspelling...nor is it a typo. Many of you have emailed me, asking to see the banner panels we did when our little creating group got together. Because Miss Amy T. was sick, we didn't get our "T" ki...
February 2010 Scraplift Challenge
I love these pictures of Marissa and wanted the layout to be somewhat special for her own album. I saw this paper, (which is a Christmas paper...Shhh...don't tell!) but it was a shade of purple, with music notes, both of her favorite things, so I knew it was to be used for her at one point. This weekend I was doing a lot of creating because MY SPACE WAS CLEAN (hehe) so I was very motivated. As I was surfing I saw this challenge for February and had thought in January I might like to try it one of these... Continue reading

Where This Woman Creates
Here is my crafty space that Bryan built into a recessed wall of my livingroom using mostly all scrap materials that we found at yard sales, and had lying around from other home improvement projects. As you can see the actual desk top is an old door that I had used as a display when I had the store. It had been given to me by a very special friend so using it in this capacity is awesome for me! It seats 2 people comfortably, with my large paper cutter in between us. The cool thing about it is, of... Continue reading

Through The Years-Layout
I started this layout something like 5 years ago, put it away, forgot about it, then found it this weekend. It was like Christmas! I had the background finished, the pictures matted in both the pink and chocolate brown cardstock, and the whole thing inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink (Ranger). It needed something...or some THINGS...but what?? I added the strip of pink vintage trim I picked up on my Inspiration Trip to Arizona, and I started doing the two things I am really into right now, collage and handmade flowers. I used a blank manila butcher tag and began... Continue reading

Valentine Canvas
This is a canvas project I have wanted to do for a long time, not necessarily a Valentine one, but the technique of tissue paper squares as a background. I just so happened to be inspired by the season! I cut my tissue paper into approximate one inch squares, (random, not perfect!!) I then put Mod Podge in a matte finish onto a paper plate. I used my foam brush to apply the Mod Podge onto the canvas, working in only very small sections because you have to put the tissue squares on quite quickly to avoid tearing it. After... Wedding Invitations With A Sparkly Hawaiian Twist
I am very pleased with how simple, yet beautiful the Hawaiian themed wedding invitations turned out for my friend, Anna's wedding reception. She is getting married in Hawaii with just a few close friends, but wants to have a Luau reception when she returns from the Island. The Invitations are made with fudge, ivory, and sea glass blue shimmer cardstocks from Archivers Brand. The HS Hibiscus mask I have had for years, and it was the perfect flower to use with the New Shimmerz VIBEZ in "Penny Pincher" because it matched with the sparkly hibiscus paper from "We R Memory... Perfect Travel Kit
I took an "Inspiration Trip" recently to Arizona and part of what I wanted out of that trip was to be able to create while I was there. I came up with this ingenius (I thought...hehe) idea of a travel kit. None of the "scrapbook" bags that I had were small enough really, so as I was packing I saw this jewelry travel bag hanging in my closet...LIGHTBULB MOMENT!! This made the PERFECT CRAFTY TRAVEL KIT! Here is a list of what I packed, all the basics, and of course papers, trims, fabrics and ephemera were picked up while I... Continue reading

Feel The VIBEZ
Can you feel the VIBEZ ?!? I sure could when I was using them to create this week!! They are a brand new product from SHIMMERZ PAINTS. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them and so will you!! They are richer in color, the are sparkly, they are AMAZING!! I Love the fact that they are water based so I can spray and not worry about what is around me...it cleans right up with soap and water. Here is a sneak peek at my project using them. I hope you are getting as excited as we are to have them released and... Continue reading

Happy Birthday to my Sweetie!
Today is Vern's birthday! Last night, we had an early birthday dinner celebration which concluded with the promised Strawberry Birthday Shortcake. I am so blessed to be married to this great guy...my best friend and my sweetie. Ashley's blog post today about her Dad really touched my heart.....
YUMMY!! It is pouring down rain here to and so grey, but I DID create and post so I already feel better! Have a plan to create some more after work by the woodstove...THAT makes the grey okay for sure :) xoxo
nothing like a spot of color to erase the gloom...
After several days of rainy and gloomy weather, these huge ripe red berries brightened my day and made me smile. We are fortunate that we've had no rain damage...just lots of water...unlike parts of Arizona that have had major flooding, several feet of snow, road closures, etc. I thought tha...
Shabby Chic With PEARLZ On Top!
I am soooooo excited to be involved with the brand new product release for Shimmerz Paints! They have teamed up with Teresa Collins and created Shimmerz Pearlz. They are thick and creamy and more opaque than regular Shimmerz, with a pearly finish. I used several of them to create this card. Here is a list of supplies as well as a step by step: White cardstock Swirl background stamp Brown stamp pad Shimmerz Spritz TC Shimmerz Pearlz Vintage lace Decorative tape Embellishments for collage (i.e. fabric scraps, tulle, ribbon, charms, pins, images) Adhesives Cut your white cardstock 8 1/2 x... a fresh enthusiasm and a new excitement...
One of the great things about a brand new year is that we are usually filled with resolve. We want this new year to be better than the last year. We want to be better people. We want to inspire and to be inspired. We want to accomplish more and we want our accomplishments to make a difference. I...
