Summer Essential: Healthy Snacks To Go (review and giveaway!)
When Dacey was two or so, she went through an extreme picky-eater stage. In my desperation to get her to eat something - anything! - I started buying Clif Kids bars. She loved them and they seemed sorta nutritious, but oh my goodness was that expensive. I always thought there had to be a way t...

LOL - maybe we should put together an intervention - if it was successful I'm sure a van load of moms showing up to twist his arm would make it into his material... :)
Come Back, Dave Chappelle! America Needs You
Dear Dave Chappelle, I know you needed some time off after your whole Chappelle's Show/Comedy Central breakdown thing a few years ago. When you suddenly abandoned your own show and dropped off the face of the earth, I was stunned and disappointed – but I understood. You’re a comedy genius. You ...
Absolutely fabulous, Mama! Happy {belated} Birthday, Dacey!
The Red Bird Birthday Party!
On Saturday, we finally got to celebrate Dacey's fifth birthday with her long-anticipated Red Bird Birthday Party. She turned five at the end of January, but an ice storm demanded we cancel party day #1. We attempted a reschedule for mid-February, but a yucky bout with RSV canceled party day #2...
I hate to hear about your experience, but it doesnt surprise me after the miserable experience Ive had, and others Ive heard. It is especially aggravating when its a local company (and in your case, when they ask for your opinion!) Companies should use customer service interactions to fix things and build customer loyalty, not alienate customers!!

Don't mess with my sweet baby's bottom
Are you a diaper snob? I used to be, until Pampers sold me down the river by downgrading the quality of their premium diapers. There are very few products that compel me to be brand loyal, particularly now that I have two children and no job. I expect a certain amount of loyalty from those c...
Isnt it wonderful? :) I think thats why ours is so packed!

Come Into My Office
I’ve wondered since having kids how any mom successfully works at home with more than one under the age of four. (I’m guessing a little bit there, not having a four year old of my own!) When I only had Sweetpea, I was working full time, but also taking masters classes in my “spare” time. It...
Oh no! Im sorry to hear youve been having problems too, Audrey, but Im not surprised given our experience. Ive switched to either Huggies Little Movers or the CVS supreme diaper brand. Neither is as absorbent as the old Pampers design, but both are better than the new design.
Best of luck, leaky diaper and a sore baby bottoms are no fun!

I have been meaning to read that book. I love Easy to love, Difficult to Discipline which includes some similar strategies. I need to remember to set our schedule to help us succeed too, and remember to be realistic.
Thanks for the recommendation!

The busiest girl in the world
My five-year old has been very active lately. She bounces herself everywhere and on to every thing. She sings constantly. Her mind is going a mile a minute as are her moods and her feet and her little motormouth. She is as apt to shout as she is to talk. She is as likely to leap into your arms ...
I think this is so true not just with kids today, but also with so many adults - people get caught up in what they "need" or "have to have" or in keeping up with their neighbors and overextend themselves.
Our kids are too young yet to understand, but we also try and keep the focus of holidays on family and celebration. I hope that as they grow up they will recognize the importance of living within their means. I also hope they will agree that we are living richly even though we aren't spending wildly...
The Spoiling of America's Children
It was a couple of weeks before Christmas, there was plenty of fresh snow on the ground and I was taking a leisurely walk with my beloved basset hound, Zoey. As I trudged through the snow that clothed the sidewalks, I noticed one of the neighbor girls shooting some hoops in her driveway. "H...
Yes! My 3yo daughter is always on the go, and I've been struggling a bit during this snowy season, especially now with an infant in the house. Finding different ways to say "no" is definitely one of my tricks (yes, but not now or yes, we'll do that tomorrow) but getting her to listen is a constant challenge. When I can go up to her, get down to her level and talk it works well, but when I'm nursing on the couch or changing a diaper I can pretty much forget it. Any tricks for listening? :)

I adore this idea!
Birds, Bees, Sex, Dollars, and Sense
When my kid was thirteen I decided it was time to have the talk with him so I walked into his room and yelled above the din of a video game, What do you know about sex? Without skipping a flick on the controller he said, "Got it covered, Ma." He was so nonchalant, I mean, I could feel t...
I love this! :) Each year I get twitchy thinking of how much my SIL spends on my in laws (and tells us what our share is) while I come up with a thoughtful and thrifty gift for my mom. Our kids are still young enough that they're cheap to buy for, but soon we're going to have to make some decisions like this - I love your idea!
George Costanza Ruined Charitable Giving
My husband and I believe a few things about Christmas: We won't go into debt over it. We will make it fun for our kids. We will teach the kids about charity. It's all about the kids, isn't it? As important as #2 and #3 are on that list up there, we are very serious about #1. We can't and ...
