If the 62kw motor was only a permanent magnet motor, it would be perfect for the next gen hybrids.
The optimal PHEV sedan car, has a 60kW motor, a 20kW generator, and a 50kW gas engine (2 or 3 cylinder, 1 liter, 80HP).
The mirage by itself already gets 40-45MPG avg.
Add hybrid, and you're looking at 65-70mpg.
