God is mentioned several times in our Declaration of Independence (which is the fundamental act of our founding): "the laws of Nature's God" "all men are created equal" and "are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights" "appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world" "with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence" Article VII, clause 2, US Constitution: "...in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven....." "our Lord" - gee, whom do you suppose that is?
