my 14 month old daughter is the same way--whatever I'm doing on the floor, she likes to toddle on over and drool all over it. So sweet :) and so cozy! sweet pupp ers.
My Heartwarmers
"Why is this dog bed so small?" Precious girl. My Tess Durbeyfield heartwarmer. Have hardly taken it off since I finished it. Making one inspired by this now, in those same colors. Next I'm going to do this one. And just look at what Nadia made. I wonder if I could do that. In sport ...
such lovely words! Thank you so much for sharing :)
I once told my mother "I think I wouldn't mind having twins" and she told me (in a good-nature sort of way), "Oh, you weren't thinking, then."
But I still think I wouldn't mind. So excited to see how things go for your beautiful family!
LIke Newbies
Having my first baby was like walking around a corner. It was a corner I knew I'd have to turn. I'd been praying for a chance to turn it, actually, for several years, but when the time came there was still a certain amount of blind leaping involved. I remember taking a bath one evening when I wa...
oh those biscuits are making me hungry!! I'll have to try that soup sooner than later--sweet potatoes are my favorite! great photos :) thanks so much for sharing!
Curried Sweet Potato
There were so many poignant reflections in Friday's comments — thank you for all of those. They carried me through the weekend (which was terrarium warm) and made me remember things. I remembered us sledding with my dad in the forest preserve a few blocks from our house — that strange gravel f...
I totally second date nights! They don't have to be a big deal, but definitely do something *together* at least once a week. Life can slip away quickly if you're too busy to stop and notice each other. A good friend told us: "Don't let your lives get so busy that you inadvertently grow apart. You have to work to keep on track together."
Also, on a slightly-less-serious note (but still quite true). Advice I did get before my wedding:
"Humor is an important element in any marriage. So argue naked."
Best of luck to the happy couple!!

As you all know my oldest son is marrying his longtime girlfriend on New Year's Eve...in my yet to be cleaned living room! I want to give them something personal and useful for their wedding... A set of pots and pans is a little too boring, albeit useful, for me. Lingerie is a little too persona...
Love these! Here is my polar bear: http://www.flickr.com/photos/renidemus/5221834227/in/set-72157624900430542/
such a great idea--wonderful instructions, too!
That Winter Afternoon . . .
. . . when I left the library, it was already snowing. . . . . The sky was the color of a pewter cup. . . . . . I buttoned my coat all the way up. . . . . . . I warmed my hands in my woolen mittens. . . . . . . . I walked through the city until the city faded away behind me. I could've sworn tha...
When the remodel is done, isn't it satisfying to look back at "before" and "in between" pictures? I love doing that. When it's done.
I LOVE that apron sink in the cabinets, too--such a lovely combination. I'm already excited to see what you do w/ the kitchen. Poor Andy, huh? :D
Also--can't wait to get started on the ornament kit! Surprise for my husband this year!
After the "Before" but Before the "After"
The downstairs bathroom: It looks amazingly similar to the state of my in-box. And my brain. Weird how that works. Thank you for all of your nice comments about the upstairs bathroom! It was so much fun to finally share it. I am scaring Andy now. Because now I want to re-do the kitchen cabinet...
OH OH! Lovely! Perfect colors, so cozy, but cool, fresh, and clean. I love remodel projects (that is, I love looking at before and after pictures) and yours is particularly charming! So glad you get to enjoy it now--that's really the best part!
The Upstairs Bathroom
It's done! And I looooooooxoxoxoxoxoooooove it! I am a happy lady with a working bathroom these days. Fixing this bathroom has been a great experience. It is really the first time Andy or I have ever had anything in our house truly remodeled, save for having our front picture windows replace...
