Wow! This gets all the most basic Chandler Goodness in one blog post, because it drills right down into the most basic context of our life-living. Einstein put it this way -- "The most important decision we can make is whether this is a friendly or hostile universe. From that one decision all others spring." This is the definitive answer -- the universe is a generous, giving, abundant place, filled with magnificent opportunities. We don't need to "do anything" to trust it, allow it, empower it, or realize it. We just need to heed the caution of Auntie Mame -- "Yes! Live! Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!" Steve says it all -- "Sit down. Enjoy the banquet."
How to dance with the abundance of the universe
If I give myself the task of learning to trust the abundance of the universe, I have given myself trouble. (If the universe is abundant, I can either notice it or not. I can celebrate it or deny it. But I won't have to trust it, ever. Because it either is or it isn't.) ...
Outstanding post. Steve Chandler is a hero, on a hero's quest. He always reminds me to stay focussed on the opportunity.
I graduated from college in mid-70's. America was consumed by Watergate. The Rust Belt industries were starting to die. My father's company -- a place where I planned to work -- was starting to fail, and would be bankrupt in 3 years. I was despondent -- where would I find a job? How would I survive? What I didn't know was that, at that exact time in history, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak were busy inventing the personal computer, and other geniuses were busy creating the Internet -- two astonishing acts of creativity that literally "reinvented the world," and created millions of jobs. I often think of this when I start to mope. What can I create that will make the world a better place? As Steve so aptly points out, the opportunity is ALWAYS there, waiting for us.
How to create worldwide prosperity
I honestly believe it's one person at a time. I know that may sound naive as vast nations keep moving vast sums of borrowed money around trying frantically to keep their treasuries afloat. How could one person counter this? But recently a client of mine told me about one perso...
My life changed after I read "The Story of You" and realized that the negative story I was telling myself about how I couldn't possibly write a book because I never had, it was too hard, I'd only fail, blah blah blah WAS JUST A STORY. I slowed down, and made writing the book a daily, do-able project...and I finished! And shipped! And my story about myself changed (and I now know its just a story anyway, and I can do amazing things if I don't scare myself to death). Thank you Steve!
Shift your mind shift the world
When I created the MindShift audio series I wanted to say that sometimes the shift can be so simple that it can ride in while closing your eyes and taking a breath. All of a sudden you're not velcroed to all these things you're believing about the scary future and the negative imagi...
Thank you Steve! I am getting Life Expectancy today. Great suggestion, keep 'em coming.
Give power to the other person
"When I'm getting ready to persuade a person I spend one third of the time thinking about myself, what I'm going to say, and two thirds of the time thinking about him and what he is going to say." ~ Abraham Lincoln When I am coaching someone in a leadership position I always want the...
Thank you Steve! A lightning bolt of clarity. As someone who often sits around pondering when I should begin thinking about empowering myself to commence the process of trusting the universe of abundance that will provide the inspiration for me to blah blah blah, I get the message.
Do...the...work. Now.
Invaluable. Thank you, as always.
Just throw your fear away
"Every time God's children have thrown away fear in pursuit of honesty... trying to communicate themselves, understood or not, miracles have happened." ~ Duke Ellington I thank Rich Procter for sending me those words by the Duke. Some of us are in the profession of helping other pe...
Wow. Typically brilliant bit of Chandlerana. As always, he points out that the truth (Just Help People) is hiding in plain sight, and the secret to finding success is to get out of your own way, stop complicating things and just do it (or, as Steve Covey says, "The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing." THANK YOU. Another brilliant distinction
I know life is great
"The only reason they come to see me is that I know that life is great- and they know I know it." ~Clark Gable * * * * * * * Someone wrote in to ask, "What's the best way to determine what to charge for business coaching IF one is just starting out with little to no coaching experience or res...
