I think Songkick are pretty good, maybe not so much for recommendations, but great to keep track of which of your favourite artists are coming to town. I rarely miss a show I'm interested in using their app. I agree, the secondary market as it is right now is terrible. Some ticketing companies already have their own reselling platforms (Ticketmaster have Ticketmaster + in the US and Get Me In! in the UK), but this doesn't benefit the consumer who has to pay extortionate amounts of money for their tickets. I think new regulations need to be introduced as reselling tickets for profit only benefits ticket resellers, scalpers who make a living out of it, buying hundreds of tickets at the same time and taking advantage of real fans. Stubhub present themselves as a fan-to-fan ticketing exchange platform (their slogan in the UK is "When they can't go, you can") and nothing could be further from the truth. Real fans who can't go to a show are only trying to get their money back, but the vast majority of sellers on resale platforms are professionals who actually make huge amounts of money out of it. I work for a company called Twickets (https://www.twickets.co.uk ), and we're trying to change that. Through our website and app you can buy and sell tickets, but only at face value or less. It's early days, but we think this is the way resale should work in the future and hopefully things will start changing soon.
