I don't think we disagree at all, Ann. Of course you're right: blogs can be whatever the blogger wants them to be, and I wasn't suggesting that they can't be. But I will say that I do, or did, get a real kick out of reading your blog(s) and never knowing what was going to come up; it's like seeing a person through a really interesting prism that reflects back any number of surfaces. But hey! It's your blog! So far "Dowsing" is wonderful stuff. And besides, how could I possibly disagree with someone who said that "Rob's [blog] reads more like the Victorian country vicar's"?

Ann, why apologize for what you're writing or not writing? You could write about doing the dishes or taking out the garbage and your faithful readers would be enthralled by your prose. Just write about what's going on; we like reading about the texture of your life, whatever it may be.

"We are half the population of this world, and nowhere, not even in the U.S., are woman truly valued for anything but their cunts . . ." And not even that. Reducing a living, breathing, thinking feeling woman to a "cunt" pretty much says it all, doesn't it? Hurray for this post. And allow me second that directive: GO SEE THIS THEATER PIECE. Really.

Hey Professor Kottner, congratulations! I didn't know you'd even applied for such work. I thuoght academia left a very bitter taste in your mouth. Or was that just your never-ending graduate program? This sounds like a fun, fun gig, and the fact that it's in your neighborhood, sort of, makes it even better. No schlepping over bridges and into different boroughs/states! Congrats.

That's Maine for you: local artists galore that you buy from direct. I couldn't be happier with my new paper clip holder thingy PUBO, so I'm with you all the way.

Roger's not the only one who finds the ornament beautiful. Its owner is inordinately fond of it too.
