We'll start off this Monday with a music video. And a few pictures taken with my phone's camera: My pout...I definitely have ethnic lips. Thanks mom, dad. Alyssa saw me painting my nails, and actually insisted that I do the same for her. She kept pointing to each finger, saying, "This one," until all 10 of her fingers were painted. She's so funny. So, I finished reading the second book in the Y: The Last Man series, and today we will purchase our third. Except for a few really cheeseball moments, I'm really enjoying it. Yurick, the last man on... Continue reading

That little chickadee right there, sticking out her tongue with me, is wonderful. But aside form that, she is moving along quickly into the so-called "terrible two's." She has started pushing us to see how far she can take things, or what happens when asked to do something, and she looks me in the eye and does not comply with my command not to so x,y, or z. Furthermore, she repeats everything I say, but in the sweetest, quietest voice ever. For example, today when I was reprimanding her, she repeated every single word of it back to me, smiling,... I'm drinking wine right now. It's no gin and tonic, but it'll do. This is my solution to today, to yesterday, to this past week. I'm actually okay. I just feel like I'm in limbo. I'll post a real update soon... Continue reading

I loafed around all day stuffing my face. And I do mean stuffing my face with all kinds of carbohydrates and sugar. Lots of it. I didn't have my "talk." I am waiting until next weekend; I feel like I'd be kicking him while he's down. Tomorrow, I will update more... This summer has been mercilessly hot. We haven't had air conditioning in our car for over a month now so I haven't wanted to take the kids anywhere. Okay, off to relax some more. What a lazy day for me. Thankfully, Michael gave me time to myself to clean... Continue reading

I am all about The Drums. I downloaded their Summertime album and YEAH!!! Descriptive, right? Gives you a real feel for the music, ha. This weekend, four things will be accomplished: 1.) A difficult talk with Michael. 2.) Putting together at least 1/2 of my application for FIU's MFA program. 3.) Getting comfortable with cPanel. 4.) Miami to dance and drink too much with my sister-in-law. As for number one on the list, I wish it hadn't come down to this... This sucks. But again, if this is the most difficult part of my life to accept right now, then I'd... Continue reading

I was supposed to go out tonight. And I was really looking forward to it. However, we needed to spend an hour on hosting basics. Michael started off with this drawing for me, lol: Jerk. lol. Followed up with stuff I actually did not know, but am glad to have an understanding of, now. I am so tired right now, so if this entry is nearly's because I'm running nearly on empty... By the time we finished our meeting, it was 11. Too late to start getting ready to go out. Boo. Today we went to House of Vintage's... Continue reading

I have not seen Freaks and Geeks, but I can tell you that I love Roman in Party Down. Ha. "Hardcore Sci-Fi." And so it is, that Mr. Starr has another fan! Continue reading

A Very Short Song by Dorothy Parker Once, when I was young and true, Someone left me sad- Broke my brittle heart in two; And that is very bad. Love is for unlucky folk, Love is but a curse. Once there was a heart I broke; And that, I think, is worse. Continue reading

When I've heard this said in the past, I did not understand quite what was meant by it. Now I know the feeling. Shake the feeling off... This morning, we went to the beach. I'm not a fan, but Alyssa is, so we've been trying to make it there on the weekends, at least. On about 5 and a half hours of sleep, I followed up bathing Aly and putting her to sleep for a nap, with a run at the gym; comedic relief- I fell asleep on the treadmill! It was a relaxing run, and I closed my eyes,... Continue reading

Drove to the gym at 9 tonight so that I might burn off some of the waffles, cookies, and bacon that I ingested today, only to find it closed. CLOSED! New management, new hours. Guh! I go often, but never this late, so I hadn't noticed the change. So now I'm back home, eating a few more cookies...F**k! I have such a sweet tooth in general, but chocolate chip cookies are one of things I seem to be helpless against. There's barely a fight. I generally slink back to the fridge where I last left them scolded, begging for one... Continue reading

Who on earth would consider me a heart breaker? No one, I hope. Yep. Let's talk about the friggin' cast of Vampire Diaries. Now there are quite a few people that have won the genetic lottery. Jerks. I hate to confess it but I really enjoy this show. But in regards to the selection of vampire-entertainment available to me, this is the only one I've gotten into. Saw Twilight (Mike surprised me with it on our Netflix one time, so I watched...), but nothing thereafter, True Blood- have it, but haven't watched), and so on. But the CW reeled me... Lately... I have been burning the candle at both ends, so to speak. I am exhausted both mentally and physically. I have to give up something or delegate, because I have been feeling too burned out to be good at anything. I am too tired to think, to move, whatever. Writing this poorly conceived entry is almost too much of a mental effort. Vacation!!!! Please? And yet...I am still trying to plan something for my 27th birthday. June 22 has passed, and while I did spend the day with people I love, I did not actually celebrate in any way.... Continue reading

I'll take your hand in mine, grab our suitcases, and label us runaways. We left to feel free together, never knowing how trapped we'd feel. So let me loose now, before we make this mistake; I'll go my way and you'll go yours. Leave without a kiss, and you will remain my sweetest loss till the end of time... ________________ I'm so fucking glad no one reads this. This is the crap that goes through my mind sometimes. It's a bit embarrassing, but writing it down is cathartic. It's nice to get it out somewhere...little snippits of melancholy crap. So,... Continue reading

Today was a sad day in my baba ghanoush's life: Grandpa lost his grip on her when they were playing on a tree (not in it), and though she did not fall far, she fell hard. Bloody nose, bloody lip, tears, and though she has said nothing about it, I'm sure her head must hurt between the face-plant into concrete, and all of the crying. I feel for her...I really really do. It hurts in such a way to see your baby in pain, that I cannot even fathom what levels of agony parents reach if they ever have to... Continue reading

Charles Bukowski's poetry and prose did not enter my life until my senior year in high school. I was visiting my brother at Williams College when he introduced me to his friend: an arrogant and irreverent student named Brian. He was wearing a shirt that read "I lie to girls.'' I liked him right off. He was the product of a better system of education and exposure than I had been: I was the result of about 17 years of my parents' sheltering and southern Catholic school repression, and he, of a prestigious northern boarding school without I imagine, much... Firstly, I will start off by letting you know that I have decided to keep a journal of what I eat, for the next 365 days. Everyday, I lament over the fact that I believe I eat unhealthily. I do eat fruits and veggies everyday, and I try to keep the ratio of prtein I ingest, higher than the ratio of carb. However, as I have mentioned here before, I have a serious problem with sugar. In fact, saying that I have a sweet tooth would do a disservice to the amount of fructose I actually try to fit into... Continue reading

How do you continue to encourage progress while for all intents and purposes, remaining at a standstill? It feels as if I have purposefully climbed into a quagmire, made myself comfortable, and have only been trying to keep the top half of my body out of the mud until my sentence is completed; until Alyssa reaches her second birthday. I am pulling away from my life with Michael, and at the same time, I am not. I am making progress with personal goals, and as with the previous situation, am not. I have been really disciplined in my commitment to... Continue reading

We have been so sick. Cameron got sick and brought us all down because he spent 8 hours a day coughing into my mouth and sneezing on Alyssa and her stuff. Three fevers and three congested noses and lungs have been dragging ass around fever is sticking around ( a low one at least), and I have 2 kids to look after today...I am just managing to drag my diseased carcass around the apartment, keeping both kids clean and fed. Neither are happy with me though, because I don't have it in me to do much beyond the basics.... Continue reading

She is my love. We looked through Michael's family's photos... We laughed at funny family stories... We had a good mini-vacation. The drive there was not easy, but the drive back was. I'll have to update later... Also, Stephanie tok these pictures with the 30D that she rented for the weekend. Go Stephanie! Continue reading

I have been filling a void I have been feeling lately, with baked goods and anything covered in chocolate or syrup... Just now, at 11 o'clock at night, I baked a gluten-free coffee-cake and tore into it because I couldn't help myself. It's been much the same for a couple of weeks now. A second round of chocolate chip pancakes, except at 10 o'clock at night; a GIANT bag of MnM's that has not so slowly disappeared from my freezer; the jug of syrup in my fridge should have lasted more than a week...not even the strawberry preserves have been...
