Well, look, I'm under the theory that all politicians lie, and all politicians lie a lot. I think the difference is that more republicans are willing to call out lies (even when it's not a lie). Democrats, in my lifetime, are less willing to do so.
As a result, many republicans know that if they walk in lock-step on a lie, it will not be called out. Democrats, without that front, say lies (or call out lies) but then immediately back peddle to safer ground.
