oh dear...I think my closet has been in contact with yours (darned chocolate coconut kisses aside) Sigh.
letter to a dress
Dear Favorite Vintage Summer Dress, We need to talk. I'm so disappointed in you. After all I've done for you. Rescued you when you were abandoned at the thrift store - tossed out like trash. I found you, brought you home, cleaned you up and loved you. Oh, how I loved you. Need we count how ma...
I loved Judy Blume...Oh, they "banned" Forever from my Junior High School...which made my mom immediately run out and get it for me to read. Her reasoning? If a school banns it, it must be worth reading (yay hippie mom...fight that establishment!)
I supect good times will be had. . .
This Saturday, here in Portland, a friend is reading at this amazing event. She is one of the organizers as well, and the whole thing sounds so very cool, I really am hoping to go. (Hang in there, baby!) Local writers/performers "read and reflect on their favorite passages from the famous work...
Calvin...the tail on your Wilbur is wonderful...and you are so very creative and good at putting everything together! That is one of the most fun parts for me whenever I am making something...the figuring out how exactly it will be put together. I look forward to seeing more creations from you in the future!
He Blogs!
HI. This is CALVIN. This is a butterfly. I made this for my first ever friend Caroline because she had a butterfly party. First, I drew it. And then I drew it on fabric. Then I cut it out. Then I sewed it. Then I put the patches on. Then I put the ears on, or whatever they are. Then I put the ...
Enjoy every moment of your sun filled weekend and the Earth's own toys...
Oh, that sun
Oh, the sun. It continues to shine, and promises to through the weekend as well. It's restorative powers? Tremendous. It feels as though everything really is okay when the sun is shining. We're all walking around as though we've never seen it before, chasing the sunbeams through the house, and...
Wonderful...Nothing like starting out with rock star toggs...if he knows how to put in a waistband and get it to fit just right, can he please teach me? My seam ripper works overtime!
OH...and if he "tells" us what he's been up to...will it be YOUR blog still or HIS? (tee-hee)
Tailor in the House
Well. My favorite little tailor has officially set up shop in the house, and staked a claim on my old sewing machine ("Mama, when we're talking about this machine, should we call it 'your machine' or can we call it 'my sewing machine'?"). The sewing has taken over a corner of his bedroom - rig...
What a beautiful sentiment...I am certainly more than a little teary (a bit inspired too, as always!)
"important" crafting
A perfectly timed gentle nudge is a quite welcome thing indeed. I'm especially grateful for one I had last week while reading one of our favorite family books to the boys. While reading and talking about that book, I made the decision to put aside all other crafting, work and house projects fo...
What a beautiful way to start the morning...
morning light with my girl
To say that I'm becoming a morning person would be very untrue and a little laughable. But. That said, I have been rising before sunrise with the babe (she's not a sleeper, I tell you) on the nights when Steve's been up late with her (this too shall pass, this too shall pass.). And there's som...
Well...it's super late right before I'm headed to bed. I can't really sleep properly without checking in on everyone, to see what's been happening in thier world. When my mother first got her computer, we used to IM each other, and she would always cut it short to visit all her blogfriends. I chuckled a lot at her, and she eventually forced me to sit down and take a look. Well, I was immediately hooked, and totally inspired to start my own blog as well...Thank you for some of that inspiration. You constantly touch a place in my heart daily, and I am so encouraged again and again by what you share.
This blog is two!
(video link if the stream above isn't working for you.) Yup, she's got it. It's two! (She'd also say "two" if I asked what shirt she wanted to wear today. "Two", is the answer du jour, you see.) Two years ago this week, I moved this little blog over from Blogger. I've gone on (and on) many t...
Oh, I don't know which looks more fun. It hasn't snowed like that here in such a long time, but I remember as a kid we'd all go out...my mother quite reluctantly, and she'd always be the one grabbing the sled away from you and hogging it! Then we'd have a hard time trying to get her back in the house...so much fun!!!
Snow Day!

Amazing...my grandmother is 93 and still crocheting like a banshee (if that is a good comparison) And we always receive handmade gifts from her too! She was a clothing designer as well...
Handmade By Nana
This polaroid was included with my gift from my Nana this year. It's she and I, in the late 1980's (don't let the decor deceive you into thinking it was the 70s), in her "Rec Room" where her sewing machines and oodles of fabric lived, and where she spent a majority of her time. I don't think ...
Have a beautiful Solstice Amanda...eat drink and be very merry...laugh dance and sing...quietly reflect and jump forward into the new year!
wishing you light
Peace dove garland, and embroidered Rudolph pillows based on the boys drawings. You know, when I took this photo, I was attempting to evoke a feeling of bright holiday coziness, but now that I look at it all I can think about is how much I would love to take a winter's nap right now! A very ve...
