Back at the start of the year Jacob from Modern Folk Embroidery launched a mystery stitch along for 2018: Four Seasons - A Primitive Quaker Year. I leapt straight on board and have really been enjoying this project. A new chart for a portion of the design is available to... Continue reading

I love to read, I love the public library and have done so for as long as I care to remember. My current reads, both from the library - our local library has a great free digital service. Back in 2011 I began to keep a record of the books... Continue reading

Good morning, sleepy-head, it's your birthday! Happy sixteenth miss Daisy! One of the downsides of being an oldie is that she feels the cold, so back in November I decided to make her a couple of sets of pyjamas. I used this pattern: I made view A, size large, using... Continue reading

I completed two quilts for Siblings Together last year, Greenfields and Jewel Box, which were sent off at the beginning of June in time for gifting at the summer camps. The Greenfields quilt top (previously seen here) was paired with an orange polkadot backing and jade green binding. I machine... Continue reading

Wow, last time I shared anything here was back in February! There has been a little bit of crafting going on... ...yes that dog is wearing pyjamas. I aim to be a more frequent blogger in 2018, wish me luck! Happy new year! Continue reading

I made a (small) quilt entirely from leftovers in the space of a week. Seems unlikely I know, seeing as how I am usually the queen of procrastination! Last week when I was putting clean quilts out for the dog I noticed that one of her old favourites is in... Continue reading

Hello there! I can't believe how quickly time is flying by, 20th of February already and this is my first blog post of the year! I have decided that 2017 is the year I am going to attempt to face up to the scrap "situation" and to that end I... Continue reading

Miracle of miracles! I actually finished the giant dahlia! The final stitch on the binding went in on Christmas Day. This first appeared on my quarter four finish along list LAST year, it was not particularly long in the making, but I did spend an inordinately long time dithering about... Continue reading

Or polka dots versus stripes! This lovely design is by Fabienne Chabrolin and was published in Quiltmania No.89 May/June 2012. She has produced loads of other great variations of this design too, take a look at this flickr album. My version is fairly close to the original design, using mainly... Continue reading

I seem to have a bit of a back log of quilts to share, so please bear with me whilst I endeavour to catch up! It took a bit of thinking about but I managed to turn these pieces... ...into a quilt... Considering I started with a full jelly roll... Continue reading

Entirely made from scraps... (The triangles are from Swoon, the red strips from Amish with a twist, and the black dots are left over binding from dog gone cute) The pattern for this case is by Kerry and can be found as a free tutorial here. It was fun to... Continue reading

Well I am still here and still crafting, it has been hard to find enough daylight to take halfway decent photos over the last couple of months (you know, go to work in the gloom, come home in the dark, rain or fog on your day off!). Today is quite... Continue reading

I gave my Mums' best friend (my honourary auntie) one of these for her birthday back in May in a vintage style floral with a taupe background and light blue lining (you will have to use your imagination as I did not take a photo!). She really liked it and... Continue reading

So two finishes and five roll overs this time, I was SO close to a third finish! Here is my list for quarter 4... Giant dahlia quilt (or maybe wall hanging?) in shot cottons (from this free tutorial). This has now officially been in progress for over a year! It... Continue reading

Made at the request of a work colleague (to be part of a bedroom make-over for her sons fourth birthday): Please excuse this particularly scruffy part of the garden, it was the only large enough flat bit of lawn I could find! I used this tutorial (in 2 parts), but... Continue reading

Thanks Catherine! The photos of the geese were taken on a dog walk a few miles down the estuary from where we live. I am still blogging (slowly) and am happy that I still get a few visitors! I have tried to get into using instagram a couple of times, but it is just not my cup of tea (I think its all that hash tagging!).

Done! Just a little quilt (36.5" square) but finally finished! All Kaffe Fassett shot cottons, happy colours, a little bit autumnal maybe? "Hey! what took you sooo long?!!" Hmm... probably those 90 flying geese units! I have huge admiration for Anita and anyone else who has the stamina to go... Continue reading

Cute needle cases made using Lucy's stitchy pie pattern. Two for me (one for machine needles and one for hand sewing needles) and two for birthday's later in the year. I used a 22.5 degree wedge ruler to cut the pieces and a 3 inch (finished size) circle for the... Continue reading

So three finishes and three roll overs this time, 50% seems like a reasonable result to me! So onto the list for quarter 3... Giant dahlia quilt (or maybe wall hanging?) in shot cottons (from this free tutorial). Wild goose chase quilt (still only 2 blocks done!). Adam and Eve... Continue reading
