I was priviledged to be with my granddaughters when they cut theirs for locks for love. Good for you both, but I do love your short hair.
The Lesser-Known Dangers of 50 mph Wind
So, Cheyenne is a windy place. Somedays are windier than others, but as a general rule, it is so much windier than where I grew up. I've witnessed shockingly high winds in Wyoming firsthand; once when I was teaching and coaching speech at Central HS back in 2001-2002, we were traveling back from...
Monicalee, I never had a grandmother, but I feel that grandmothers have a real responsibility. Your role here is to be a good grandmother, when the time comes. Good post.
My Nonnie
So my grandmother is pretty sick. She is 91 but things are not looking too good. She is German and the Germans in my family are tough, really tough. But I am thinking she is not so tough anymore. I don't think I am handling it very well. She is the only grandmother that I have known. My other...
S, You really should get a handle. Thanks for coming by. Everyone SHE IS MY SISTER.
Oh Applesauce so great to have you back. I am glad you are able to do things again.
October 6/ Strategies for cooking working mothers
My daughter, Meredith, is wanting me to give her a 30 minute recipe each week. . .sort of a recipe for working mothers. I can not come up with a new recipe for 30 minutes each week. Barbequing in the summer is the only time that really works for me. But I do have a lot of strategies that I ...
Thank you Mood Ring. Toilets are easy. You know my chocolate cakes.
Expat, that is the worst part, I thought about it. The apology went well, but I think there was a divot.
Making a chocolate cake is exactly what I would like to do, because I started calorie reduction yesterday.
Thanks Lois, coming from you it is a very nice compliment.
Dear Radish/ Saying sorry
Dear Radish, The other day I think/know I hurt a friend’s feelings. I corrected her in front of others. She talks all the time, and she insisted that she could hear God even when she was talking. I, even after sleeping on it, said to her the next day, what if God wanted to speak throug...
There are so many ups and downs, but in my life I found the joys to far exceed downs. Keep this up. I believe in long marriages. I celebrated my 50 this July. It was as great as the wedding.
Promise
Fifteen years ago today I walked across the crisp morning grass from the Winding Brook Motel -- where I talked all night with close friends -- to my apartment. I was regretting those last few drinks, but not the company, the time, or the conversation. My sister, Colleen, styled my hair in a twi...
425, you make me laugh. I tell you it is truly beautiful there. Wait until you see the beauty of their chapel later this week.
October 4/ Shaw Island
Where is paradise? One place is Shaw Island, WA where Our Lady of the Rock Monestary is. Eleven women from our Episcopal church went to this Catholic retreat for the week end. This monastery is Benedictine. One of the aspects of the Benedictine Rule is hospitality. They are to welcome vi...
I do not know if anyone looked at the pictures. This was a sunset on Saturday, and I took the pictures because it reminded me of doves or hands reaching out.

On Organizing, Sorting, Priorities & Coconuts
Organizing anything is not my forte. What does your life look like? I came across some photos from my travels (Thailand & Singapore) to illustrate my thoughts. Can you handle the tasks & balance your loads solo? Do you have others alongside who help shoulder the mantles you bear? Organ...
Algor, you will have to take the test yourself , sweetie.
September 15/ Personality tests
This I didn’t know, but you can take a personality test on the Internet. Sort of a mini Myers- Briggs test. The first test I took was a test by choosing colors. That said sex could solve some of my problems. I discarded that test. But I then took two different tests that came out saying I...
Expat, you do not read my comments when I reply. I love that apron and it is only slightly mucked up, but now it is Autumn.
September 14/ Dear Radish
Dear Radish, I just went to a funeral, and I was dressed totally inappropriately. I wore regular clothes because I was going to work in the kitchen afterwards. Shall I go out and buy new clothes? Sally, from Washington. Dear Sally, Of course you should go out and buy new clothes. Wha...

This the day, and this is the 48 star flag, and we are ready to go. The Souza is on the ready.
No. But we did not play the music. I was a little saddened to see so few flags.

I have never commented on a blog that no one ever commented on. But is is a link to see. These lunch boxes have me laughing out loud. Just the punches for cheese are a hoot. It makes me want to go to school. I went to the grocery store today and I bought cream cheese and sliced olives to make the sandwiches my mother made. But I need the cutouts. If you have school age kids, you have to go there.
September 7/ Lunches
If you are someone making lunches for others, check out this link Another Lunch . Just looking how the woman packages lunch boxes is an inspiration. I need a blog for senior lunches. We eat lunch out all the time. Seniors need to get out of the house and it seems lunch is it. We would ...
Molly, I think you have a wonderful blog. I am reading it frequently. I love your banner and your rotation of subjects.
autumn update: belted
When I think about updating my wardrobe for autumn I usually begin with leathers: bags, boots, and belts. Lately I've been wearing dresses over jeans or nice pants. It just works for my body type, age and personal style. There are so many cute belted tunics and dresses out now - perfect tr...
Wow. I so needed to hear about the ordinary. I am in a creative journey. Sometimes I want to so extordinary, but ordinary is all out there before us.
on vulnerability
Occasionally I'll share a video that I find really inspiring. This 16-minute piece by Brene Brown came to my attention this morning. Autumn brings more new experiences this year than last. I've been working on a post (or two) about memory-keeping as insight into whol...
What a fun site. I just happened on this site via the Poetic Eye for Sharing. Keep this up.
Too Fast
They grow up way, way, way, to fast! My oldest, Grayson, graduated from elementary school yesterday and am proud to say with an award for Academic Excellence! He is one great kid.
Lisa, I do not know where I saw a comment of yours, I think maybe Aliedwards.com. I would like to say that your comment was so king and very constructive.
Three-week Recovery Update
This is what my foot looks like (the one on the top was Tuesday and the one on the bottom was Thursday night). I can't get a photo of the bottom because every time I do it ends up blurry because I'm too close to it. Today is three weeks since my surgery to remove two neuromas and I am ...

In truth I was lying in bed this morning thinking what a professional, but accessible woman she is. She is everywhere. She blogs every day in depth, which is not easy. She is a terrific teacher and she has wonderful style. She may be the queen of fonts. All this and it looks like she may also be one of the top 100 mothers of the year. Thanks Ali.

I am interested in how you have used the mosaic on the blog. I like the different spaces for example the blue. I hope to use this on my blog.
Ten on Tuesday
1. It occurred to me as I was making potstickers on Sunday night that the desire to stuff food into some sort of dough/pastry concoction is pretty much universal. Ravioli, pierogues, pasties, empanadas, potstickers. Universal except for Maddie. She hates every single one of them. 2. At dinner (w...
