Well the Pop-Up Pots are on their way to the ladies who joined in. This time there were more sent abroad then to the UK! There were a few who ran out of time to join in, but thanks to the internet we can get to see them all and enjoy them even if we couldn't take part. You can see a slide show of the pots here, where you can see all sides and the popped up pots. The Pop-up Pot project itself is here. Here is a little preview of the closed pots though; Marion Annie April Christina... Continue reading

When I create the projects for Cardmaking Paradise, once they are made and online they go from my mind and I move on to the next project I am creating. This week I had a lovely surprise - Marion sent her swap item to me, and included a lovely note made using the invitation/thank you letter project. It was really lovely to receive - it was a real thrill actually! Firstly that someone had taken the time to make something and write a lovely note to me, and secondly to see a project I had created being made and used... Continue reading

I was invited to dinner by a lovely couple I have met through yoga - and discovered shortly after arriving it was the husband's birthday the next day. Part of me secretly was relieved I hadn't known, as I had had a busy few days and when you are pushed for time to come up with an idea it rarely comes! But the next morning as I sat quietly with my coffee the perfect card for him came into my head and so I created it in time to take it round before his special day ended! You will find... I designed this card a few years ago, and it has become one of the most popular on the site. It has also become the most copied - and so I thought it would be nice to start this year off giving it away free! It folds up to be a perfect heart that fits a 15 cm square envelope. You will find the project here! Share the love by either making it - it can be used for so many things, not just valentines, the one above was just to tell my daughter how much I love her -... The novelty of being in charge of the remote control quickly wore off when I found there isn't a lot I want to watch on TV! But then I realised I could also use the iPad whenever I wanted - and it has become a great source of creative inspiration for me. We are so lucky in this world of technology to be in touch so easily with inspirational people around the world - and that there are so many people willing to share their creations with us. As you know I have been enjoying Joanne Sharpe's online doodle writing... Continue reading

Two beautiful cards arrived today that really made me smile. If you get the Cardmaking Paradise newsletter I send out, you will have seen the link I shared to Sheel's blog. Sheel is so talented, and has been creating the most stunning art boards. One of these was a beautiful Christmas Tree Canvas, which was just inspired, made with beautiful colours and textures. What a lovely way to share the joy of this wonderful creation, by turning a picture of it into a card! Thank you Sheel, it looks stunning on my fireplace. x Liz always makes me smile, and... Anyone can go to a shop and pick a card off a shelf, but it is a really special thing when someone takes time out of their day to make you a card. When a cardmaker receives a card, you appreciate the time it has taken, the love that has gone into it, the techniques used and the things used to embellish it. Christa's card had an extra thrill for me, as she has taken one of my templates, and given it a Christmas theme. I would never have thought of giving the Wellies Project a Christmas theme, and it... I had the most beautiful card from Linda, and I wanted to share it with you as there are so many tips and techniques in it that you could use. Rather than a card, it is actually two long pieces of watercolour paper folded in half and sewn together in the centre. The lovely bright background is made by using Distress Pads direct to a craft mat, then spraying with water and pressing the watercolour paper onto it. The houses are painted with Fresco paint. I love the way Linda has thought of adding the shadow behind them. Linda hand... Continue reading

I have just come to the realisation that I never took enough time for me! I thought I did, but I realise whenever I was doing something for me, in the back of my mind was the next thing I had to do for someone else - family/friend/dog/house. I am really enjoying discovering just how relaxing and joyous creativity with no expectation can be. I wanted to share my little discovery just in case there is someone out there who might give it a go and find it fun too! (I mean creativity with no expectations!) Now this isn't something... Thank you Netti! Yes, it's the writing again - I hope to get back into practising regularly as I really enjoy it. She says to do some every day - how are you getting on with it? The books great isn't it. xxx :)

I have finally got to make my bookmark for our Neglected Bookmark swap. The idea is to use something you have bought and never used or that lies neglected at the bottom of a drawer somewhere. For me, the entire contents of my craft room have lain neglected for so long I could have used anything! The first thing I decided to use though was my Distress Inks. I used to use them all the time, but neglected them in favour of Dylusions sprays this year - and so it was time to be reaquainted with them! I used the... Continue reading

My amazing nephews have given me real treats this week. First of all, Jamie made me this beautiful bracelet which I have worn every day - I just love the colours! Isn't it clever? It came in an envelope with beautiful writing too. I had had a sort out, and sent them some crafty things to play with - they are both very creative and love arty crafty things. And Daniel sent me this fabulous card; Isn't the writing just amazingly brilliant? I have been having a go at whimsy writing myself, but Daniel's curly writing in the Happy is... Continue reading

You know sometimes there is so much you want to put on a card, and not enough card to do it on? I wanted number, name and quote - and ended up making each separately and making a little scene with them! I have been playing around with doodle writing, but I'm not really happy with how it went here! It's the sentiment that was important though. It's a really special thing watching your children grow and seeing their journey - I am so proud of the kind hearts they have, and the lovely people they have become. It's great... Continue reading

The heart trellis card is one of my favourite of my designs for weddings and anniversaries. This one was made for Jesper's Uncle and Aunt, Kettu and Frits's Golden Wedding. Unfortunately, my husband likes to travel the manic way, and so booked a flight from Stanstead leaving here at 3am, arriving at the party as it started at midday. Alas, he turned the alarm off without waking up, and so missed the flight, and there were no alternatives that would get him there for the party! Does anyone else have teenagers waiting for exam results? It seems such a long... Continue reading

What a fabulous weekend we had at The Craft Barn! It was so lovely to be with all my crafty friends again - we really do just laugh together and have fun from the minute we meet! It was Sheel's birthday on the Friday, which is a great excuse for a yummy cake! People kept asking me for the recipe, which is; Turn left at the traffic lights, and keep going until you get to M&S! There was a huge downpour at the very beginning of the Saturday, which unfortunately flooded the marquee the demonstrators were in, but they quickly... Continue reading

It's nearly my favourite time of year again! Better than Christmas or birthdays - it's the Craft Barn Extravaganza in just 9 sleeps time! It's an amazing event, with marquees filled with demonstrators showing us how to use all the lovely products. It's lovely to be able to sit at the tables in front of them chatting as they show us the different techniques. Our Cardmaking Paradise ladies will be there for the weekend - you'll hear us before you see us! We spend the whole weekend laughing - it's so lovely being with my crafty friends at this weekend.... We have had a paper bead swap at Cardmaking Paradise - the ladies taking part have each made 10 beads and sent them to me, and will receive 10 beads from different people in return. Here are my beads drying; I wanted to present the beads in a special way, showing who had made each one, and had the great idea of mounting them on a kilt pin with loops for attaching things! There are 5 loops, so each person will receive 2 pins with 10 beads. Of course, this does involve putting each bead on wire and attaching that... Continue reading

Fran Seiford is not only wonderfully talented, she is also an incredibly kind and lovely lady! She spent ages showing me things and creating beautiful pieces, and I had a really special time watching her. In the process I discovered Stampendous products I didn't know existed! Below are the Stampendous Kraftboard Stack Art pieces embossed with Aged Silver. I love the feel of the Kraftboard - it is lovely and thin, slightly thinner than the greyboard I use at home, but it has a really firm almost wooden feel to it. Here are the stamps used; Fran embossed one of... Continue reading

I don't think I've ever seen a flabby rainbow Hilda! Stamperama was a lucky day for you wasn't it, with the lovely things you bought and a beautiful rainbow. Thank you for your comments ladies. :) x x x
I had a lovely time at the Stitches show on Sunday. I always make sure to be there at the door for 9am - that way I can chat to the designers before they get surrounded by crowds. My early bird strategy gave me a fantastic morning - I got some really special time with some very talented and lovely ladies. I have too much to cram into one blog post, so I'll split it up to make it easier to see. The first person I had the privilege of spending time with was Sue Wilson. Sue was showing her... I received a lovely email yesterday that made my day. Beverley Offenberg wrote saying how much she loves our handbag project, and attached pictures of a card she has made using it - I think you'll agree it's stunning! This is one of my favourite projects, as I designed the shape from a handbag I gave my special friend Helen for her birthday, so it's really lovely to see other people enjoying the project too. Thank you so much Beverley for taking the time to email and send me the lovely photos. (The link to the project is here) We... Continue reading
