How funny! Okay, not haha funny, coincidence funny. I have been feeling exactly the same way the last few days! And I'm also thinking if I feel this way NOW I will be-and your term is perfect-absolute rubbish for the holiday chaos! Nooooo....
{I Am Like a Rabbit}
I am like a rabbit caught in the headlights. But the thing causing me to stand stock still in panic is not a car but my to-do list. Since we were all ill I have completely lost my rhythm. Before I had at least the dishwasher on before we left for school, had visited the allotment (not before s...
Thrilled for you-on all fronts! Losing weight is incredibly difficult and enjoying the healthy results isn't remotely shallow! A trip to London, getting to leave 50 lbs. of you at home, and new, cute, size 10 jeans? The Fun Trifecta!
{A Tale of Two Golden Envelopes}
Golden envelope number one was opened at Friday’s MAD Blog Awards. Sadly it did not contain my name this year. But it did reveal the name of super talented Rachael who won the best photography category. Just nip over to her blog to see her awesome pictures. Well done Rachael! Thank you thou...
Homemaking really IS an art-and such a necessary one! But like you said, there are so many skills that go into it to keep our home "machine" running at peak efficiency. I love teaching but I'm lucky to be able to do it part-time, and I schedule my classes for later in the day, to leave time for all the homemaking "stuff". Running a house really is a full-time job in itself, as others have commented, and I'd go mad (and our house would be a disaster!) if I didn't have time for it. Those who don't respect it as a "job" have never done it, at least not properly!
{The Lost Art of Homemaking}
I love homemaking. I love the very word of it even. I must admit this is a very new feeling for me. It's only taken 20-odd years. Perhaps it's just (another) sign of my advancing years. But despite all that I have to say I am not good at it. Oh no. I am sure there would be some family members,...
Perfectly said! As a child we spent a lot of time at our place at the lake but otherwise we had to flop around and amuse ourselves! I love unstructured time so I always wanted holidays to feel like that for my kids, too. Too much structure can be stressful and doesn't do a thing to encourage creativity and self reliance. Your holiday sounds just right to me!
{The Summer of Less}
Blimey, this post is proving hard to write. I wanted to post about our summer holidays but it kind of ended as a bit of a whinge fest. But conversely I need to dump it out of my head... Basically I can sum up our holidays as Guilt v Gratitude. I have been feeling so guilty at the perceived rub...
My daughter and I found the "80% part-time vegan" way of eating works really well! Helps cut out the animal fats and adds all the yummy, colorful foods! But a girl still needs her cheeseburger now and then! And 41 lbs-good for you!!
{The Colour of Summer}
Let's face it, I am obsessed with food. Not in a great cook sort of way just in a gluttonous one. And ever since I changed my eating habits, I've been thinking, planning, buying and cooking food even more. If that were possible. I began my weight loss/healthy eating adventure on February 1st a...
Of course I would love this! Such a cute idea!
Rainbow Crayola Birthday Invite
Sorry no muffin tin lunch today. This week we are going to focus on my daughter L's 5th birthday. Her rainbow birthday to be exact. Awhile ago I found this awesome idea on Giverslog called Happy Mail. Essentially it is putting anything in the mail under 13oz as is. Over Easter, she mailed plasti...
Must give a shout out to Miss Marion at our bank who always has lollipops and a dog treat for Shasta! Since everyone claims to be so desperate for customers you'd think they'd do a better job trying to keep the ones they have. I think I need one of those cups!
Customer Service in a Cup
I am old enough to remember having an attendant pump my gas for me and clean off my windshield. I remember bank tellers always having suckers and dog treats. I am old enough to have watched good customer service go down the drain. And I must say that it baffles me. In these tough economic times ...
You're welcome! Thanks for stopping over at "my place" but I'm sorry you had trouble commenting. You should be able to Select Profile under the comment box and choose TypePad, then fill in your username. I have trouble commenting on some sites that aren't Blogger blogs and it's frustrating. My favorite post about my kids is Minumus Discovers Vintage. That little excursion sums them up perfectly!
{Finding Moments of Calm}
It's hard to find them, those moments of calm in a busy life. But I've learnt a couple of ways to grab them in my fifteen years of being a parent. For me it doesn't involve lots of nights out with the Husband, weekends away (yeah, three nights away in all of those years. I'm not going to say a...
I recently found your blog, too, and it's absolutely charming! I think some people are just "downsizing". That silly trend of some bloggers of following every blog they find just so other blogs will follow them? Maybe they are purging. I bet you didn't lose anyone who is an active part of your blog "family"!

Found your blog through The Coffee Lady-so glad I did! It's lovely. Just feels cozy when you drop in!
{The Best Thing In My Garden}
There is something in my garden that is perhaps the ugliest thing (if you discount the puppy). It takes up so much room and there's really no way to disguise it. It's not my greenhouse, raised veggie beds or a stunning bit of planting (oh how I wish!). It adds nothing of any beauty to our ga...
Such a cute idea! Love that you can just stick the entire egg in the ground. Yeah, the kids never mind the mess, do they?!
Planting Seeds with Kids
I had my niece and nephew over yesterday and made eggs for all five kids for breakfast. We had a lot of shells that I thought could be reused. Plus, the Easter Bunny brought us all seeds to plant and I just so happened to have some seed starter in my garage. Crazy how the Ester Bunny sh...
This is a great idea! My kids loved collecting for the animal shelter and were shocked by how much money they would have at the end.
Giving Jar
Over Christmas break I read the novels The Christmas Jars and The Christmas Jars Reunion by Jason F. Wright. They are truly inspiring books about the power of giving and selflessness. The premise is to start a jar every Christmas and add spare change to it throughout the year. At the next C...
Such a cute idea! I do NOT know how you have the time!
Happy Presidents Day!
Happy Presidents Day everyone and welcome to my blog! This is my first official post. I hope you like it. Over the weekend my middle child J and I went to the library and checked out a few books for the upcoming holiday. I decided to focus on one president because it would be simpler and I speci...
