Hi Susan! My father was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma. I took a sabbatical from work and my life in Seattle to spend it with him and my family for as long as it was necessary. I returned to life in Seattle in November. The past two years I was barely in the country and were the hardest of our lives. Thanks for stopping by.

Hello there! The recipe calls for the strained juice of the macerated diced rhubarb you left overnight in the bowl to be cooked first, then the fruit is added. ALL of the fruit. :) Hope this helps.

I've been enjoying Becky's book now for a while and must say, even though she is a friend (so is Luuvu) that Good fish is a terrific resource for seafood/fish lovers in general. These videos (and others of its kind such a book trailers for new authors/books) go beyond the already gorgeous photography in the book and are not only instructive but fun to watch and definitely add something really special to the reading/cooking experience. In this Twitter/Facebook/eBook/iPad era, the cookbook publishing world is certainly richer because of these visual enhancements and the reader is definitely getting added value in ease of user participation, enjoyment and instruction. I wish more authors did videos such as Luuvu's to accompany their work. I for one, would love Amanda Hesser's New York Times Cookbook and Dorie Greenpan's Around My French Table, Fairchild's Desserts and Melissa Clark's In the Kitchen with A Good Appetite to come up with an iPad app with cooking/baking videos. Amanda already does fabulous videos for Food52 and Melissa is also a pro doing super enjoyable cooking/baking videos for the New York Times. I would buy them all! :)

Me too, Mohini! Natalie, I owe you an email. How sweet of you to write. I read your post out loud to a dear friend who came over for dinner and has a sister living in Dubai. We both laughed and laughed. Happy to read I've been approved by the authorities. xo

In Christine Ferber words: "I do this so that the sugar is absorbed gradually by the fruit, and the texture of the fruit is preserved". Also, in my experience, it assists with the jelling process especially since the Ferber method does without the addition of commercial pectin.
