It’s looking good Keli and loving the colourful nature of it. I’m sorry you have to sew. Perhaps you could glue more? I tend to use glue a fair bit for mini cushions and bedding instead of sewing them. It’s Ok to cheat sometimes!
More sewing
Ugh. Have I said I hate sewing? I know, I have. I think I'm done now. Hopefully.
Awww that’s so sweet! It was meant to be! Sad that the poor little thing was out on his own when he was so young but he sure picked the right garage!!
M is for Milo
In August, in the midst of home renovations, I posted this picture and said I'd tell you the story later. It's story time. Last July my daughter, Kate, had a feral kitten on her property, living in her garage. It wouldn't let her come anywhere near it, of course. Kate didn't want it to tak...
It is perfect the way it is. Love the colours.
Still playing with flowers
I've got a bouquet. I had no idea that would be my result. The vase was only serving as a hands-free way to photograph the flowers but now it's part of the piece. I need to tinker with the arrangement, they need to be spaced out a bit more. Or maybe not, maybe I should leave well enough al...
Ooo spooky coincidence! I was browsing pinterest earlier this week just gone and a picture started me thinking about a little borrower type house. I loved the Borrowers too, and the String family. Enjoy your break and have a lovely holiday.
vacation, acquisitions, and assorted goings-on
I am on vacation! I don't have to be back in the office until January second. Whoo-hoo! I've got a few small projects lined up.... As executor of Charlene's miniature estate, I need to pack her fishing gear and send it to its new home. I'm assembling a wee metal model kit. Nancy sent me ...
It really is great Keli. You have such an amazing vision for seeing what you want to acheive from the start and then achieving it. Brilliant. Good luck with the contest!
Susan A. Nancy Horticultural Library
The exterior is clad in wooden rustic siding strips, stained with Zar Golden Oak, and egg carton brick, painted Thalo Blue, not grouted. The additional exterior walls and planter boxes were built from foam core board, to keep the weight down. The signage was cut on my Cricut, from adhesive...
Well done Keli, it really does look amazing. The landscaping is just fantastic!
Submission pictures
Named for the two friends without whom this project would not have come to fruition, I present the Susan A. Nancy Horticultural Library. More pictures and comments to come, but first I have to catch up on housework, etc.
It is looking FANTASTIC as usual Keli! Can’t wait to see the final product.
Almost done
I am on track to be finished tonight. Here's a bird's eye sneak peek... We've had snowstorms this week, which quash my plan for taking pictures outside this weekend. I'll have to buy a couple of white sheets to set up a backdrop in my studio instead.
A belated happy birthday Kelli! Sorry you are still sick, but the house is pulling together nicely. Not long to go now!
birthday siding
When I was making the yucca I was wishing I had more shades of green markers. It's my birthday today, so I treated myself. I also got a trio of brown and a couple of grays. I got one side wall and the bottom front wall sided yesterday. My thumb hurt from squeezing the glue bottle, so I took...
Gee willikers, those are some realistic looking plants! Beautiful.

It looks great Keli. And there is the sense of achievement and satisfaction in having it all done and renewed. And your chairs match the cabinet colour?
Renovation update #8
I have finally decided the kitchen can be pronounced done, even though there is a shelf I want to put up to display some antiques that haven't been brought back in from the garage yet. Save
Haha! Cool bowl although if it was me, I wouldn’t ever be sure to laugh or cry whenever I looked at it! And very cool mini presents, love them all, especially the tropical drink and knitted basket.
Presents
From Kat... The tropical drink has to be added to The Beach House. The rest of the items will be perfect for the English Cottage Kitchen. Thank you Kat, I love all of them. :D From my friend Elaine... Hysterical! Consider it on permanent display as my new fruit bowl in the middle of my d...
Oh Keli, this sucks. Having done a lot of the work on our house when it was built plus maintenance since then, I can say with 100% confidence that I share your pain. It often feels like 2 steps forward, one back. If it makes you feel better, my friend’s son dropped a tin of red paint on new carpet. I hope you had a relaxed Sunday to get over the shock. Sending good vibes across the ocean for no more mishaps. Xx
Renovation update #5
This post should be subtitled: Keli's misadventure. I had plans to finish the kitchen this weekend so that I could show it off this morning in all of its new glory. Saturday morning all I had left to do was paint the cupboards above the laundry machines, touch up and reinstall the baseboards,...
Wow Keli! You must be feeling great with all the renos that have been done - there is so much satisfaction in these things. When we got our laudry fitted out a few years after we'd built, we just kept going in there to marvel at the beautiful beautiful floor to ceiling cupboards. Of course we are now at the point where we need to redo a fair few things. Anyway, I LOVE your new windows. These are exactly what we want but don't want to deal with having to move all our crap out of the way for someone to install them and then put all the architraves back on and patch up paint. Did you have a lot of that to do or were they pretty neat?
renovation update #2
I got the wall behind the stove and refrigerator, and the walls behind the washer and dryer, stripped, washed, washed, washed, primed, and painted, so that I could move the appliances back into place. Before we moved the washer and dryer back I had Matt buy and hang a couple of ready-to-install ...
That is a big job, but will be well worth it.
Floor archaeology
The original floor that would have gone with the awesome wallpaper. This I am not sorry to cover up. You can also see the original dining room floor, because why not, in an open concept floorplan, give each room it's own distinct floor and wall covering. Save
LOVE that middle wallpaper! So cool.

Frustrating! That's a bit sloppy of them. It probably won't help you, but if it was mine and I was getting a little antsy, I'd grow a vine over it and call it done.
Irked
I dry fit the double-hung windows on the side of the house, then glued all the windows in place, assuming they'd all be the same depth. They are not. I should have dry fit all of them, so that I could make alterations before I glued them in place. Now I'll have to add to the depth with ...
It's gonna look great though!
Bricks, bricks, bricks
This is taking much longer than I anticipated. Save
Those are VERY cool Keli! And a great way to practice using your machine. Also looks like you had some fun with them. So you could also cut little shapes out of rolled icing for the cake/s???
Cricut practice
I volunteered to cut out some images with my Cricut to make inexpensive birthday party decorations for this guy, who doesn't like to sit still for a selfie. It took two hours Saturday morning to cut the shapes. It takes longer to remove the pieces from the cutting mat than it does for the mac...
Great fix Keli - will store that info for future use. And as for the sink, I was going to say quit while you're ahead, but then I thought, if it's bugging you now, it will keep bugging you, so best fix it.
another water/paper trick and fixing the sink
I tapped the flat roof back out, I have to fix the sink. I still had the piece I cut out the first time, so glued it back in. I then drilled a hole for the new sink, a bit smaller and in the right place. That's a step bit, in case you didn't know. And...all cleaned up. See that shiny bit ...
Oh wow, you have had a doozy of a day! Not sure I have any suggestions, but I reckon Ester will.
all the things I screwed up today
I screwed up the coffee bar. First, I glued the paper backsplash to the wall crooked; thankfully that's easily fixable, I can glue another piece over it. Then I cut the hole for the sink without dry fitting the countertop on the cupboards, so cut it too far forward. I decided this wasn't too ...
I agree with the stripes, or maybe Kat's idea of tongue and groove wood painted. Have you tried a plain colour but darker, like something in the carpet, or a couple of shades darker than the walls? Just a thought.
ceiling no-no-no-no-no-nos
I anticipate any pattern on the ceiling is going to be too much in competition with the carpet, but let's take a look. Nope. Nope. Huh. I like that. Nope. Let's try off-white...first a grayish white, then a cream...though in the pictures you probably won't be able to tell the difference...
Things that cut for you are so much fun. I am sure this will help you make all sorts of amazing things. These panels are a great start.
First cricut project
Panels for the closet door...
It's looking great. And I hear ya on the messy craft room front... mine is horrifying at the moment, and I haven't even been mini-ing. For organisation of little things, I found a little MDF chest kit with little drawers made from thick card at the local craft/sewing shop. Quick and easy to out together, good size drawers for tiny things.
Wallpaper is done
I love the color, it's exactly what I wanted. Now I have to figure out where to put how many of which lamps, then redo holes in the floor to run wires. First I have to clean my studio. I ran out of room on my work table, overflowed onto the other table, then a rolling cart, then a sec...
It is a bit in-your-face but perhaps if it had plain white tiles for a dado and floor, it would be less overwhelming. The second choice was good though, much more calming.
Re that crazy real life bathroom - it's a good thing they gave the toilet a green seat. No idea what they do when they want to find the sink though.
not every idea is a good idea
I'm not done coloring, but I know this is not going to work. Wow. If I had to use that bathroom I'd have to pee with my eyes closed so I wouldn't get dizzy. I've got to have something in my paper stash that's only a little wild, and not 'I think I ate the wrong mushrooms' wild. Here we go!
Errm, I'm pretty sure droids invented online shopping. Just make sure he doesn't find any build-your-own-robot kits.
curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal
Droids love online shopping. C3PO bought a box of dinosaurs so he could act out scenes from his favorite sci-fi series. He also got a dimetrodon. Dimetrodon is not a dinosaur.
